지난 28일 경북매일신문이 에브리리서치에 의뢰해 실시한 여론조사에서 ‘어느 후보가 당선될  것이라고 생각하느냐’는 질문에 경산시민의 51.3%가 최경환 후보라고 답했다. 반면, 조지연 후보에 답한 시민은 32.2%로 두 후보간 격차는 19.1%로, 지난주 한동훈 위원장이 다녀간 뒤 실시하고 발표된 KBS여론조사(최경환 49.8%, 조지연 35.6%. 격차 14.2%) 보다 4.9% 더 벌어졌다. 정가에서는 한 위원장의 지원 유세에 따른 덕을 본 조 후보가 이후 한 위원장의 인기가 시들해져 가면서 약발이 떨어지는 것 아니냐는 분석이다.

두 사람의 뒤를 녹생정의당 엄정애 4.8%, 진보당 남수정 후보의 당선 가능성을 점친 시민은  5.1%였다. 모른다고 답한 이는 6.6%였다.

두 사람의 지지율도 큰 변화를 보였다. ‘4명의 후보 가운데 누구에게 투표하겠느냐’는 물음에 최경환 후보가 42.4%의 지지율을 얻어 33.8%를 얻은 국민의힘 조지연 후보를 8.6% 차로 오차범위를 살짝 벗어난 정도에서 따돌렸다. 그 뒤를 진보당 남수정 후보가 8.2%, 녹색정의당 엄정애 후보 3.9%였다. 부동층(지지후보 없음 8.6%, 잘 모르겠다 3.1%)은 11.7%로 집계됐다. 

최 후보는 60대, 70대 이상을 제외한 모든 연령층에서 조 후보를 앞섰다. 특히, 이번 조사에서는 여성 유권자층에서도 최경환 후보를 아주 근소한 차로 역전시킨 것으로 조사되면서 그동안 여성들로부터 전폭적인 지지를 받아왔던 조 후보에 큰 위협이 될 전망이다.

정당 지지율은 국민의힘 57.7%, 더불어민주당 16.1%, 개혁신당6%, 조국혁신당 4.8%, 새로운미래 3.2%, 녹색정의당 2%로 나타났다. 

비례대표 투표에서는 국민의힘 지지가 가장 높았다. 47.3%의 시민이 국민의힘 비례 정당인 국민의미래에 투표하겠다고 했다. 다음으로 11.6%가 조국혁신당을 선택해 11.3%를 획득한 민주당을 앞질렀다. 뒤를 이어 개혁신당과 녹색정의당이 각각 5.9%, 3.7%, 새로운미래 2.8%, 투표할 정당이 없다는 응답자는 6.8%, 잘 모르겠다고 응답한 이들은 6.5%로 나타났다.

한편, 국민의힘 정서가 강한 지역에서 무소속 후보가 상대에 리드하고 있는 것과 관련, 정가는 “인물론” 때문이라고 분석했다. 4선 의원을 하면서 5선에 도전하는 최 후보가 경산 지역을 획기적으로 변화시겼다는 데 반해 상대 후보인 조지연 후보는 국민의힘이라는 조직에 기대어 선거에 임하는 모습으로 비추어지면서 ‘인물론’에서 밀리고 있는 것으로 관측되고 있다.
