【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=계명대 동산도서관이 지난 겨울방학동안 환경개선 작업을 통해 고전적인 독서실 형태의 열람실에서 벗어나 시험공부만 하는 도서관이 아닌 다양한 학습공간을 마련해 4차 산업혁명시대에 창의적이고 자기주도적인 학습역량을 강화할 수 있는 공간으로 새롭게 탈바꿈했다.

계명대에 따르면 딱딱한 독서실 분위기 보다는 카페와 같은 분위기로 완전히 변화를 가져온데 이어 ‘모바일 학습 Zone’에는 노트북으로 인터넷 강의를 들을 수 있는 노트북실, 협업과 토론 공간으로 활용 가능한 코워킹스페이스 등을 마련했다.

‘개인학습 Zone’에는 캐럴, 스터디룸을 마련해 개인 및 그룹 학습공간으로 활용할 수 있도록 했다. 일반열람실은 기존에 좁은 좌석이 아닌 개방형으로 넓은 좌석을 마련해 집중도를 높이고 좀 더 쾌적한 분위기에서 공부할 수 있도록 했다.

계명대 동산도서관은 2018년 4차 산업혁명을 선도하는 도서관으로 변화하기 위해 지역 대학 최초로 3D프린터 및 스캐너, 소형공작기계, VR체험 장비 등을 설치한‘아이디어 상상실(Idea-Maker space)’을 마련해 시대에 맞는 대학도서관으로 변화를 꾀하고 있다. 이곳에서는VR장비를 활용해 학생들이 제작한 콘텐츠의 시험환경을 제공하여 시장에 출시되기 전 미리 홍보하고 테스트하며, 피드백을 통해 완성도 높이는 데 활용되고 있다. 이번 도서관 환경 개선으로 아이디어 상상실의 활용도를 높이고, 도서관 자체 프로그램을 운영해 대학도서관을 다양한 학습공간으로 활용한다는 계획도 세우고 있다.

이종한 계명대 동산도서관 관장은“더 이상 대학도서관은 책만 보고 시험공부만 하는 장소가 아니다.”며, “시대에 맞게 변화하고 앞서가야 한다. 학습방식도 점차 디지털화 되고 있고, 요즘 학생들은 엄숙한 분위기 보다는 자유로운 분위기에서 집중도를 더 발휘하는 만큼 학생들이 원하는 서비스를 제공해 학습에 도움을 줄 수 있는 공간으로 바뀌어야 한다.”고 말했다.

계명대 동산도서관은 ‘용비어천가’를 포함한 22종 99책의 국가문화재 보물을 소장하고 있으며, 2011년부터 동산도서관 자원공유 멘토링 사업을 통해 대구∙경북지역 학교, 기업체, 교회, 아파트 도서실 등 141개 도서관을 대상으로 연인원 약 760명이 환경개선, 자료정리, 공간 재구성 등의 봉사활동을 하였으며, 특히 초∙중∙고 도서관에서는 독후활동 프로그램을 진행하는 등 지역사회의 공익적 역할을 충실히 하여 1990년과 2015년 두 차례에 걸쳐 ‘한국도서관상’을 수상하기도 했다.

최근에는 '2020 책나래 서비스 우수 대학도서관', '2021년 고교-대학 연계 인문학 강화 독후감 공모전 주관기관'으로 선정되는 등 대학도서관으로서 선도적인 역할을 하고 있다.
