대구광역시 남구청과 계명대학교는 2월 3일 오전 계명대학교 대명캠퍼스 대명동산관에서 ‘대구광역시 남구 창업 플랫폼 개관식’을 열고 지역 청년과 예비창업자를 위한 창업 지원 거점 공간의 출발을 공식화했다.

이날 개관식에는 남구 주민을 비롯해 창업 유관기관 관계자, 지역 기업인, 청년 창업가, 대학 구성원 등 400여 명이 참석해 플랫폼 조성 경과 보고, 제막식, 시설 투어 등에 참여하며 대구형 창업 생태계 조성의 시작을 함께했다.

대구광역시 남구 창업 플랫폼은 청년 창업 활성화와 지역경제 혁신을 목표로 조성된 복합 창업지원 공간이다. 계명대학교 대명캠퍼스 대명동산관 1층과 4·5층에 연면적 3,798㎡ 규모로 마련됐으며, 창업보육실과 코워킹스페이스, 교육·세미나실, 실습형 콘텐츠 제작 공간 등 다양한 창업 인프라를 갖췄다.

특히 창업 준비 단계부터 성장 단계까지 교육, 멘토링, 네트워킹, 사업화, 투자 연계를 아우르는 전 주기 지원체계를 구축해 원스톱 창업 플랫폼으로 운영될 예정이다.

이번 플랫폼은 대학의 인적·물적 자원과 남구의 행정·정책 역량을 결합한 관·학 협력 모델이라는 점에서도 의미가 크다. 계명대학교는 창업 교육 프로그램 운영과 전문가 멘토링, 기술사업화 컨설팅, 산학협력 네트워크 연계를 담당하고, 남구청은 정책 지원과 행정 인프라 제공, 지역 기업 및 유관기관과의 협력 체계 구축을 통해 창업기업 성장을 뒷받침한다.

신일희 계명대 총장은 “대구광역시 남구 창업 플랫폼은 대학의 교육·연구 역량과 지역 산업, 청년의 창의적 아이디어가 만나는 실질적인 창업 허브”라며 “청년들이 실패를 두려워하지 않고 도전할 수 있는 환경을 조성하고, 대학의 자원을 적극 연계해 지역과 함께 성장하는 지속 가능한 창업 생태계를 만들어가겠다”고 말했다.

조재구 남구청장은 “청년 인구 유출과 지방소멸 위기는 지역이 직면한 가장 큰 과제”라며 “창업을 통해 새로운 기업과 일자리를 창출하고 청년이 다시 모여드는 선순환 구조를 구축해 남구형 혁신 모델을 완성해 나가겠다”고 강조했다.

Daegu Nam-gu Office and Keimyung University held the "Daegu Nam-gu Startup Platform Opening Ceremony" at the Daemyeong Dongsan Hall on Keimyung University's Daemyeong Campus on the morning of February 3rd, officially launching a startup support center for local youth and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Approximately 400 people, including Nam-gu residents, officials from startup-related organizations, local businesspeople, young entrepreneurs, and university staff, attended the opening ceremony. They participated in a progress report on the platform's development, an unveiling ceremony, and a facility tour, marking the beginning of a Daegu-style startup ecosystem.

The Daegu Nam-gu Startup Platform is a multi-faceted startup support space created to promote youth entrepreneurship and innovate the local economy. Located on the first, fourth, and fifth floors of the Daemyung Dongsan Building on Keimyung University's Daemyung Campus, the 3,798-square-meter space features diverse startup infrastructure, including a startup incubation center, co-working space, training and seminar rooms, and a hands-on content production space.

Notably, the center will operate as a one-stop startup platform, offering a full-cycle support system encompassing education, mentoring, networking, commercialization, and investment collaboration from the startup preparation stage to the growth stage.

This platform is also significant as a model of public-academic cooperation that combines the university's human and material resources with Nam-gu's administrative and policy capabilities. Keimyung University will be responsible for operating entrepreneurship education programs, providing expert mentoring, technology commercialization consulting, and facilitating industry-academia collaboration. Nam-gu Office will support the growth of startups by providing policy support, administrative infrastructure, and establishing a collaborative system with local businesses and related organizations.

Keimyung University President Shin Il-hee stated, "The Nam-gu Startup Platform in Daegu Metropolitan City is a practical startup hub where the university's educational and research capabilities, local industries, and the creative ideas of young people converge." He added, "We will foster an environment where young people can take on challenges without fear of failure and actively connect with the university's resources to create a sustainable startup ecosystem that grows alongside the region."

Nam-gu Mayor Cho Jae-gu emphasized, "The youth population exodus and the crisis of local extinction are the biggest challenges facing our region." He added, "We will perfect Nam-gu's innovation model by creating new businesses and jobs through startups, and establishing a virtuous cycle where young people re-engage."
