이날 양 기관은 지체장애학생 및 중도중복장애학생의 의사소통능력 향상을 위한 상호 협력을 약속하고 지체장애학생 및 중도중복장애학생 역량 강화를 위한 전반적인 사업 계획들에 대해 논의했다.

또한 향후 의사소통능력향상을 위한 프로그램 및 자료개발, 보완대체의사소통 기기와 지원실 등의 환경 구축 및 가정과의 연계 방안 마련 등에 대해 협력을 이어가기로 했다.

협약을 기반으로 한 전문적이고 특화된 특수교육 인프라가 지체장애학생들의 역량 강화에 큰 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

이근용 총장은 “대학이 가지고 있는 특수교육 분야의 수준 높은 교수진들과 시스템을 통해 지역의 특수학교와 연계하여 지역사회에 기여할 수 있게 되어 뜻 깊게 생각한다.”며 “단순히 협약에 그치지 않고 한 발 나아가 상생 발전할 수 있는 교육 프로그램 개발에 적극 지원하여 지체장애학생들의 자립과 성장에 도움이 될 수 있도록 노력하겠다.”고 말했다.
