이에 지역의 시민단체인 우리복지시민연합은 “대구 서구의회의 이번 조례 개정을 환영한다.”면서 긍정적인 반응을 보이는 한편 “대구·경북의 광역 및 기초의회뿐 아니라 모든 지방의회는 서구의회를 기준 삼아 신속히 조례를 개정하라.”고 촉구했다.

이 가운데 선거법 위반 혐의로 구속된 의원에게 약 4개월간 월정수당을 지급해 논란이 되었던 대구시의회에도 관심이 쏠리고 있다.

대구시의회는 오는 23일 운영위원회를 통해 ‘대구광역시의회 의원 의정활동비 등 지급에 관한 조례 일부개정조례안’에 대한 안건심사를 실시할 예정으로 해당 안건이 상임위를 거쳐 본회의를 통과하면 구속 의원에게 월정수당이 지급 중단된다.

한편 선거법위반 혐의로 구속되었던 전태선 대구시의원은 22일 보석 신청이 인용되어 석방되었다.
