지난 20일 오후 2시 국회의원회관 제8간담회의실에서 장애인들의 게임 접근성을 높이기 위해 세액 공제를 포함한 구체적인 세제 지원 정책의 필요성에 대해 공감대를 형성하고 다양한 아이디어를 제시하는 자리가 마련됐다. 

이날 발제를 맡은 도영임 교수(KAIST 문화기술대학원)는 게임 접근성의 문제를 단순히 게임의 문제로 국한하지 말고, 게임이 미래의 상호작용 미디어로서 생활 전반에 걸쳐 확산되고 있는 점을 강조하면서, 게임 접근성이 개선되면 모든 콘텐츠의 접근성이 함께 향상될 수 있다고 설명했다.

또한 장애인 게임 접근성을 위한 R&D 연구 사례를 소개하면서, 제도 개선을 통해 장애인 고용 효과 등 여러 긍정적인 결과를 기대할 수 있다고 강조했다.

이와 함께 토론 참가자들은 장애인 게임 접근성에 관한 국내의 법적·제도적 지원의 필요성에 대해 공감하며 방안을 모색했다.

강명구 의원은 "자유민주주의 국가는 모든 국민이 공정한 기회를 가져야 한다"며 "구체적인 그동안 소외받은 사람들이 비장애인처럼 동등하게 게임을 즐길 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.
