포스코그룹은 22일 포항 체인지업그라운드에서 ‘체인지업’ 브랜드 선포식을 열고, 그룹이 운영해온 벤처 육성 프로그램들을 △유망 창업팀 발굴 ‘스타트(Start)’ △단계별 투자 펀드 ‘부스트(Boost)’ △사업화·실증 거점 공간 ‘그라운드(Ground)’로 통합해 운영 방향을 체계화한다고 밝혔다. 이를 통해 벤처 발굴부터 성장, 사업화까지 전 단계를 아우르는 혁신 지원 시스템을 구축한다는 계획이다.

브랜드 선포식에 앞서 포스코그룹은 총 1,011억 원 규모의 ‘경북-포스코 혁신성장 벤처펀드’에 출자했다. 이 펀드는 중소벤처기업부와 경상북도, 금융기관 등이 함께 조성하며, 경북 지역 유망 벤처기업을 대상으로 투자와 지원을 확대한다. 포스코그룹은 펀드 운영위원으로 참여해 지역 발전과 혁신 생태계 조성, 미래 신성장 기회 발굴에 기여할 방침이다. 펀드 결성식에는 한성숙 중소벤처기업부 장관, 이철우 경북도지사, 이주태 포스코홀딩스 대표이사가 참석했다.

포스코그룹은 1997년부터 벤처 생태계 활성화에 꾸준히 투자해 왔으며, 정부의 지역경제 활성화와 청년 취·창업 지원에 힘써왔다. 대표 프로그램인 ‘아이디어 마켓플레이스(IMP)’는 2011년 출범 이후 누적 1만여 건의 공모를 접수하고 175개 벤처기업에 340억 원을 직접 투자했다. 또한 벤처 전문펀드에 총 4,130억 원을 출자해 2조7천억 원 규모의 펀드를 조성하는 성과를 거뒀다.

창업·연구 공간인 ‘체인지업그라운드’에서는 지금까지 185개 벤처기업이 입주해 기업가치 2조1천억 원, 고용인원 1,900명 이상을 달성했다. 2020년 서울, 2021년 포항에 이어 올해 광양 개관을 앞두고 있어, 포스코 주요 사업장이 벤처 성장의 거점으로 자리매김하고 있다.

한편, 포스코그룹은 이날 오후 제29회 ‘아이디어 마켓플레이스(IMP)’를 개최했다. 이번 행사에는 22개 벤처기업이 참여해 투자유치(IR) 발표를 진행하며 혁신 기술과 아이디어를 선보였다. 특히 올해 IMP에서는 포스코그룹의 핵심 사업영역인 철강, 이차전지, 에너지·인프라 및 신사업 분야 벤처를 집중 육성해 그룹의 전략사업과 연계를 강화하고, “벤처의 성장이 포스코의 혁신으로 이어지는 선순환 구조”를 구축할 계획이다.

Prior to the brand declaration ceremony, POSCO Group invested a total of KRW 101.1 billion in the "Gyeongbuk-POSCO Innovation Growth Venture Fund." POSCO Group has consistently invested in revitalizing the venture ecosystem since 1997, contributing to the government's efforts to revitalize the local economy and support youth employment and entrepreneurship. Since its launch in 2011, its flagship program, the "Idea Marketplace (IMP)," has received over 10,000 applications and directly invested KRW 34 billion in 175 venture companies. Furthermore, the group has invested a total of KRW 413 billion in venture-focused funds, resulting in a total fund valued at KRW 2.7 trillion.

ChangeUpGround, a startup and research space, has housed 185 venture companies, achieving a corporate value of KRW 2.1 trillion and employing over 1,900 people. Twenty-two venture companies participated in the event, presenting their investment pitches and showcasing innovative technologies and ideas. This year's IMP will focus on fostering ventures in POSCO Group's core business areas—steel, secondary batteries, energy and infrastructure, and new businesses—to strengthen their connections with the group's strategic businesses. The goal is to establish a "virtuous cycle where venture growth leads to innovation at POSCO."
