【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포스코그룹이 18일부터 이틀간 그룹 최대 기술 행사인 ‘포스코그룹 테크포럼(Tech Forum)’을 열고 주요 기술 개발 성과와 향후 전략을 공유한다. 1989년 시작된 테크포럼은 올해로 37회째를 맞으며, 그룹 기술 혁신의 방향을 제시하는 핵심 행사로 자리매김해 왔다.

올해 행사는 포항공과대학교에서 개회식을 갖고 본격적인 일정에 돌입했다. 장인화 포스코그룹 회장을 비롯해 주요 계열사 대표와 기술 분야 임직원 등 1,300여 명이 참석해 그룹 기술력의 현주소와 미래 비전을 함께 논의했다.

장 회장은 개회사에서 “불확실성이 커진 경영 환경을 돌파하는 가장 중요한 수단은 기술 혁신”이라며, “현장과 연구소가 함께 참여하는 One-Team형 초격차 대형 과제를 통해 기술 개발 속도를 높이고 미래 경쟁력을 강화해야 한다”고 강조했다.

그는 이어 “철강과 이차전지소재 분야의 자원 확보는 아무리 강조해도 지나치지 않으며, 글로벌 자원 확보와 혁신 기술 개발에 지속적으로 매진해야 한다”고 덧붙였다. 또한 “전 직원의 AI 활용 역량을 끌어올려 전 사업장에서 AI 기반 디지털 혁신을 이뤄내자”고 주문했다.

개회식에 이어 그룹 기술 발전에 공헌한 직원들을 격려하는 ‘포스코 기술대상’ 시상식이 진행됐다. 올해 기술대상은 혁신상 2건, 창의상 4건, 도약상 4건, 도전상 3건 등 총 15건이 선정됐다.

최고상인 혁신상에는 포항제철소 제강부와 포스코퓨처엠 양극재연구센터가 이름을 올렸다. 포항제철소 제강부는 AI를 활용해 제강 공정을 100% 자동화한 ‘제강 전(全) 공정 자율 조업 기술’을 개발해 작업자 편차를 제거하고 공정 시간을 약 10% 단축한 점이 높은 평가를 받았다. 포스코퓨처엠 양극재연구센터는 ‘전구체 연속식 순환 농축 공정 양산화 기술’을 통해 가공비 절감과 생산성 향상을 동시에 이뤄 업계 최고 수준의 성과로 인정받았다.

포럼 기간 동안 포스코그룹은 25개의 기술세션을 운영한다. 내·외부 전문가가 참여하는 기술세션에서는 올해 로봇 기술과 핵심광물 기술 개발을 중심으로 다양한 우수 연구 사례가 공유된다.

포스코그룹은 장인화 회장 취임 이후 ‘2 Core + New Engine’ 전략에 기반한 혁신 기술 개발을 핵심 과제로 추진해 왔다. 그룹은 필요한 기술을 선제적으로 발굴하고 시장 요구에 맞춰 빠르게 구현하는 ‘Corporate R&D’ 체제로의 전환을 가속화하며 글로벌 초일류 기업으로 도약한다는 방침이다.

POSCO Group Presents Future Technology Blueprint… "Tech Forum 2025" Opens

POSCO Group will host the "POSCO Group Tech Forum," its largest technology event, for two days from the 18th to share key technological development achievements and future strategies. This year's event kicked off with an opening ceremony at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). Approximately 1,300 attendees, including POSCO Group Chairman In-hwa Chang, representatives from major affiliates, and technology executives, discussed the current state of the group's technological capabilities and future vision.

In his opening remarks, Chairman Chang emphasized, "Technological innovation is the most important means of overcoming the increasingly uncertain business environment." He emphasized, "We must accelerate technological development and strengthen future competitiveness through one-team, large-scale, hyper-gap projects involving both the field and research labs."

The top award, the Innovation Award, went to the Pohang Works Steelmaking Division and the POSCO FutureM Cathode Materials Research Center. The Pohang Works Steelmaking Division received high praise for developing "Full-Process Autonomous Operation Technology," which utilizes AI to fully automate the steelmaking process, eliminating operator bias and reducing process time by approximately 10%. POSCO FutureM's Cathode Materials Research Center was recognized for its industry-leading achievements, achieving both reduced processing costs and increased productivity through its "Precursor Continuous Circulation Concentration Process Mass Production Technology."

During the forum, POSCO Group will host 25 technical sessions. These sessions, attended by internal and external experts, will share various outstanding research cases, focusing on robotics and core mineral technology development this year.

Since Chairman In-hwa Chang's inauguration, POSCO Group has prioritized the development of innovative technologies based on its "2 Core + New Engine" strategy. The group plans to accelerate its transition to a "Corporate R&D" system, proactively identifying necessary technologies and rapidly implementing them in response to market demands, thereby leaping forward as a world-class company.
