포스코그룹은 17일 서울 중구 사회복지공동모금회 회관에서 연말 이웃돕기 성금 100억 원을 기탁했다고 밝혔다. 글로벌 경기 침체 등 불확실한 경영환경 속에서도 나눔의 가치를 이어가기 위해 지난해와 동일한 규모의 성금을 출연했다.

이날 성금 전달식에는 사회복지공동모금회 김병준 회장과 포스코홀딩스 신건철 경영지원본부장 등이 참석했다.

포스코그룹은 1999년부터 매년 사회복지공동모금회를 통해 이웃돕기 성금을 기탁해 왔으며, 올해까지 누적 출연금은 총 2,120억 원에 달한다. 올해에는 포스코홀딩스를 비롯해 포스코, 포스코인터내셔널, 포스코이앤씨, 포스코퓨처엠, 포스코DX, 포스코플로우, 포스코스틸리온, 포스코엠텍 등 9개 그룹사가 성금 출연에 동참했다.

이번에 전달된 성금은 미래세대 교육 지원과 취약계층 자립, 지역사회 복지 증진을 위한 다양한 사회공헌 사업에 활용될 예정이다.

포스코그룹은 임직원 참여형 사회공헌 프로그램을 통해 나눔 문화 확산에도 힘쓰고 있다. 대표적인 활동인 ‘1%마리채(My Little Charity)’는 임직원이 직접 기부처를 발굴하고 지원 대상을 선정하는 프로그램으로, 올해에는 미래세대 성장·교육 프로그램과 어르신 복지시설 리모델링 등 100여 개 사업에 총 8억 원 규모의 지원이 이뤄질 예정이다. 2020년 온라인 기부 플랫폼 구축 이후 현재까지 838개 기관에 53억 원을 지원했다.

임직원이 자발적으로 결성해 운영하는 포스코봉사단 역시 지역사회와의 상생을 실천하고 있다. 포항과 광양 등 제철소 인근 200여 개 마을·단체와 자매결연을 맺고, 특산품 구매, 농번기 일손 돕기, 시설물 보수, 환경 정화 활동 등을 지속적으로 전개하며 지역사회에 온기를 전하고 있다.

이와 함께 포스코그룹은 2010년부터 ‘글로벌 볼런티어 위크’를 운영하며 국내외 전 사업장에서 임직원이 참여하는 나눔 활동을 이어오고 있다. 이를 통해 임직원 자긍심을 높이는 동시에, 지난 16년간 글로벌 사업장 소재지를 중심으로 진정성 있는 사회공헌과 공존·공생의 가치를 실천해 왔다.

POSCO Group has embarked on a large-scale year-end donation drive.

POSCO Group announced on the 17th that it donated 10 billion won to the year-end Neighborly Donations program at the Community Chest of Korea building in Jung-gu, Seoul. The donation, the same amount as last year, reflects the company's commitment to sharing despite the uncertain business environment, including the global economic downturn.

The donation ceremony was attended by Kim Byung-joon, Chairman of the Community Chest of Korea, and Shin Geon-cheol, Head of the Management Support Division at POSCO Holdings.

POSCO Group has been donating to the Community Chest of Korea annually since 1999, and its cumulative donations so far this year have reached 212 billion won. This year, nine group companies, including POSCO Holdings, POSCO, POSCO International, POSCO E&C, POSCO FutureM, POSCO DX, POSCO Flow, POSCO Steelion, and POSCO M-Tech, participated in the donation campaign.

The donations will be used for various social contribution projects to support education for future generations, promote self-reliance for the underprivileged, and enhance community welfare.

POSCO Group is also committed to fostering a culture of sharing through employee-participatory social contribution programs. One of its signature initiatives, "1% Marichae (My Little Charity)," allows employees to directly identify and select donation recipients. This year, a total of KRW 800 million will be provided to approximately 100 projects, including future generation growth and education programs and senior welfare facility remodeling. Since the launch of the online donation platform in 2020, KRW 5.3 billion has been donated to 838 organizations.

The POSCO Volunteer Corps, formed and operated voluntarily by employees, also practices mutual growth with the local community. POSCO Group has established sisterhood ties with over 200 villages and organizations near its steelworks, including Pohang and Gwangyang, and continues to spread warmth to local communities through activities such as purchasing local specialties, helping with farm work during the busy farming season, conducting facility maintenance, and environmental cleanup activities.

Furthermore, POSCO Group has been operating "Global Volunteer Week" since 2010, engaging employees at all its domestic and international business sites in volunteer activities. This initiative not only boosts employee pride but also fosters genuine social contribution and the practice of the values ​​of coexistence and symbiosis, particularly at its global business sites, for the past 16 years.
