포스코 포항제철소(소장 박남식)는 20일 포스코 구룡포수련원에서 ‘QSS(Quick Smart Solution) 혁신리더 기본교육’을 성공적으로 마무리했다고 밝혔다.

이번 교육은 포스코인재창조원 중소기업컨소시엄과 공동으로 진행됐으며, 2026년 QSS 활동을 계획하거나 관심이 있는 지역 중소기업 임직원 23명을 대상으로 실시됐다. 참가자는 상공회의소와 포항철강관리공단을 통해 모집됐으며, 교육 수료 후에는 각 기업으로 복귀해 QSS 활동을 정착시키는 혁신리더 역할을 수행하게 된다.

교육 과정은 혁신리더로서의 역할과 자세에 대한 이해를 비롯해 품질·원가·납기 등 기업 경쟁력 향상을 위한 실질적인 개선 방안을 중심으로 구성됐다. 특히 5S(정리·정돈·청소·청결·습관화) 활동과 ‘마이머신(My Machine)’ 프로그램 등 현장 실습 중심 교육을 통해 업무 효율을 높이는 구체적인 방법론을 익히는 데 중점을 뒀다.

아울러 안전 및 재해 사례 교육도 병행해 안전한 QSS 혁신 활동 추진에 필요한 역량을 강화했다.

교육에 참여한 진양특수강 권보성 부장은 “이론에 그치지 않고 실습 위주로 진행돼 업무 개선에 대한 이해를 높이는 데 큰 도움이 됐다”며 “현장에 적용해 모두가 안전하고 효율적으로 일할 수 있는 근무 환경을 조성하겠다”고 소감을 밝혔다.

한편 포항제철소는 2011년부터 혁신허브 QSS 지원 활동을 이어오며, 2025년 기준 총 199개 기업, 593명의 혁신리더를 양성하는 등 지역 중소기업의 지속적인 경쟁력 제고를 지원하고 있다.

POSCO Pohang Steelworks has embarked on fostering innovative talent to strengthen the competitiveness of local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

POSCO Pohang Steelworks (Director Park Nam-sik) announced on the 20th that it successfully completed the "QSS (Quick Smart Solution) Innovation Leader Basic Training" at the POSCO Guryongpo Training Center.

This training was conducted jointly with the POSCO Talent Creation Center's SME Consortium and targeted 23 employees from local SMEs who are planning or interested in QSS activities for 2026. Participants were recruited through the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Pohang Steel Management Corporation; upon completing the training, they will return to their respective companies to serve as Innovation Leaders responsible for establishing QSS activities.

The curriculum was structured around practical improvement measures to enhance corporate competitiveness, including quality, cost, and delivery time, as well as an understanding of the role and attitude required of an Innovation Leader. In particular, the focus was placed on mastering specific methodologies to enhance work efficiency through field-practice-oriented training, such as 5S (Sort, Set in order, Clean, Standardize, and Sustain) activities and the ‘My Machine’ program.

In addition, training on safety and accident case studies was conducted concurrently to strengthen the capabilities necessary for promoting safe QSS innovation activities.

Kwon Bo-seong, a manager at Jinyang Special Steel who participated in the training, commented, “Since the training was conducted primarily through practice rather than just theory, it was of great help in deepening my understanding of work improvement. I will apply this to the field to create a work environment where everyone can work safely and efficiently.”

Meanwhile, Pohang Steelworks has been supporting the continuous enhancement of competitiveness for local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) since 2011 through its Innovation Hub QSS support activities, having fostered a total of 199 companies and 593 innovation leaders by 2025.
