【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=계명대학교(총장 신일희)는 11월 29일 대명캠퍼스 동산관 시청각실에서 ‘제5회 계명대학교 미술대학 전국 어린이 미술대회’ 시상식을 개최했다. 본선 우수작은 11월 28일부터 30일까지 동산관 극재미술관 화이트갤러리에 전시돼 관람객의 관심을 모았다.

올해 대회는 전국에서 2,867명이 예선에 참가하며 역대 최대 규모를 기록했다. ‘우주미술관 여행’을 주제로 열린 본선에는 400명의 어린이가 참가해, 부모의 도움 없이 3시간 동안 강의실에서 주제를 해석해 작품을 완성했다. 미술대학 교수진으로 구성된 심사위원단은 어린이들의 높은 몰입도 속에서 밝은 미래와 예술적 잠재력을 확인할 수 있었다고 평가했다.

예선 심사는 9월 1일부터 12일까지 접수된 작품을 대상으로 진행됐으며, 입선 984명, 특선 546명, 본선 진출 400명이 선정됐다. 본선 현장대회 결과 대상 1명, 금상 5명, 은상 12명, 동상 20명, 장려상 297명, 특별상 9명이 최종 수상했다. 심사는 주제 부합성, 창의적 표현력, 작품 완성도, 표현의 진정성을 기준으로 엄정하게 진행됐다.

대상은 한솔초등학교 2학년 조원율 학생이 차지했다. 조원율 학생은 주제 해석의 깊이와 화면 구성, 창의적 스토리텔링에서 높은 평가를 받으며 상장과 상금 70만 원을 수상했다. 조원율 학생은 “처음 큰 미술대회에 참여해 긴장이 컸지만 대상 수상 소식을 듣고 매우 기뻤다”며 “이번 경험 덕분에 그림 그리는 일이 더 즐거워졌다”고 소감을 전했다.

김윤희 미술대학장은 “어린이 미술대회는 상상력과 창의적 사고, 사회적 소통 능력을 키우는 의미 있는 자리”라며 “전국 어린이들이 예술로 자신을 표현하고 교류하며 역량을 키워갈 수 있는 행사로 지속 발전시켜 나가겠다”고 말했다.

계명대 전국 어린이 미술대회는 매년 참가 규모가 증가하며 공정하고 엄격한 심사를 통해 권위 있는 대회로 자리매김했다. 수상작 전시와 연계한 교육 프로그램 운영 등 후속 활동을 통해 지역 미술교육 활성화에도 기여할 계획이다.

This year's contest recorded its largest-ever participation, with 2,867 participants from across the country participating in the preliminary round. Themed "A Journey to the Space Museum," the final round saw 400 children participate. They interpreted the theme in a classroom for three hours, completing their works without parental assistance. The judging panel, comprised of faculty from the College of Fine Arts, praised the children's high level of engagement, demonstrating their bright future and artistic potential.

The preliminary round was conducted from September 1st to 12th, with 984 finalists selected, 546 special selections, and 400 finalists selected. The final round, held on-site, awarded 1 Grand Prize, 5 Gold Prizes, 12 Silver Prizes, 20 Bronze Prizes, 297 Encouragement Prizes, and 9 Special Prizes. The judging process was rigorous, with criteria including relevance to the theme, creative expression, completeness, and authenticity of expression.

The Grand Prize went to Wonyul Cho, a second-grade student at Hansol Elementary School. He received a certificate and a cash prize of 700,000 won, receiving high praise for his depth of interpretation of the theme, composition, and creative storytelling. Cho said, "It was my first time participating in a major art competition, so I was nervous, but I was thrilled to hear the news of my grand prize. Thanks to this experience, I've come to enjoy drawing even more."
