이번 축제는 당초 지난 9일부터 25일까지 운영될 예정이었으나, 10일부터 13일까지 강풍으로 인한 안전 문제로 운영이 일시 중단된 데다 방문객들의 높은 호응이 이어지면서 일주일 연장이 결정됐다.

영양 꽁꽁 겨울축제는 영양군의 청정 자연과 겨울의 정취를 만끽할 수 있는 대표 겨울 행사로, 빙어낚시를 비롯해 얼음열차, 눈썰매, 먹거리존, 체험존 등 다양한 프로그램을 마련해 가족 단위 관광객은 물론 연인과 친구들의 발길이 끊이지 않고 있다.

영양군에 따르면 축제 기간 누적 방문객 수가 5만 명을 돌파하며 지역 경제 활성화에도 긍정적인 효과를 보이고 있어, 보다 많은 관광객에게 축제를 즐길 기회를 제공하고자 연장 운영을 결정했다.

연장 기간에도 기존 인기 프로그램은 동일하게 운영되며, 군은 안전 관리와 편의시설 점검을 한층 강화해 방문객들이 보다 쾌적하고 안전하게 축제를 즐길 수 있도록 만전을 기할 계획이다.

오희경 문화관광과장은 “제3회 영양 꽁꽁 겨울축제에 보내주신 많은 관심과 성원에 감사드린다”며 “연장 운영 기간 동안에도 영양만의 겨울 매력을 마음껏 느끼시길 바란다”고 말했다.
