【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=대구광역시는 책 읽는 도시 조성을 위해 매년 ‘대구 올해의 책’ 10권을 선정·홍보하고 있는 가운데, 올해는 대구도서관 개관을 계기로 시민 참여를 한층 확대한다. 이를 위해 시민추천단을 운영해 시민 관심도와 참여도를 높일 계획이다.

2026년 ‘대구 올해의 책’ 선정은 △도서추천단 후보도서 추천 △도서선정위원회 심의 △온라인 시민투표 및 최종 도서 선정의 절차로 진행된다. 도서추천단에는 분야별 독서 전문가, 구·군 및 교육청 대표사서, 시민, 지역출판협동조합 등 다양한 주체가 참여한다.

시민추천단은 대구도서관 누리집을 통해 대구시민이라면 누구나 참여할 수 있으며, 어린이·청소년·성인 분야별로 1권씩 총 3권까지 추천 가능하다.

추천 대상은 △국내 작가가 발간한 2년 이내 단행본 △사회적 공감대를 형성할 수 있는 주제의 도서 △스테디셀러로 자리매김할 가능성이 있는 도서다. 다만 종교·정치 성향 도서와 과거 ‘대구 올해의 책’ 선정 도서는 제외된다. 추천 기간은 2월 24일 오후 6시까지다.

시민추천단이 추천한 도서 가운데 상위 30권을 선정하고, 다른 후보도서와 함께 총 120여 권 규모로 도서선정위원회 심의를 거친다. 이후 어린이·청소년·성인 각 5권과 대구지역도서 3권 등 총 18권의 최종 후보도서를 확정한다.

3월에는 이들 18권을 대상으로 온라인 시민투표를 실시해 최종 10권을 ‘대구 올해의 책’으로 선정한다. 최종 선정 도서는 4월 개최 예정인 선포식에서 공식 발표되며, 선정 도서를 중심으로 북콘서트, 작가와의 만남 등 다양한 독서문화 행사가 연중 추진될 예정이다.

권현주 대구도서관장은 “대구 올해의 책은 시민이 직접 참여해 함께 만들어가는 대표 독서문화 사업”이라며 “어린이부터 성인까지 다양한 세대의 생각이 모여 선정되는 만큼, 많은 시민이 관심을 갖고 소중한 한 권을 추천해 주시길 바란다”고 말했다.

The top 30 books recommended by the Citizen Recommendation Group will be selected, and together with other candidates, a total of approximately 120 books will be reviewed by the Book Selection Committee. A final list of 18 books will be finalized, including five each for children, teenagers, and adults, and three books from the Daegu region.

In March, an online public vote will be held on these 18 books, with the final ten selected as "Daegu Books of the Year." The final selection will be officially announced at a ceremony scheduled for April. Various reading culture events, such as book concerts and author meetings, will be held throughout the year, centered around the selected books.

Daegu Library Director Kwon Hyun-joo said, “Daegu’s Book of the Year is a representative reading culture project that citizens directly participate in and create together,” and added, “As it is selected by gathering the thoughts of various generations, from children to adults, I hope that many citizens will take interest and recommend a precious book.”
