최재훈 전 대구시의원이 오는 6월 치러질 제8회 전국동시지방선거 달성군수 출마를 공식 선언했다.
지난 21일 달성군수 예비후보 등록을 마친 최재훈 전 시의원은 23일 달성군청에서 기자회견을 열어 “달성군이 살기좋은 도시로 한 단계 더 도약하기 위해서는 인구구조 다변화에 따른 맞춤형 정책 지원이 절실하다”고 밝히며 달성군수 선거 도전을 선언했다.
그는 “늘 현장에서 군민들의 필요를 찾고, 정부·국회·대구시 등과 적극 소통하면서 다양한 정책요구를 소화할 수 있는 능력 있는 군수가 필요하다.”면서 “최근 10년간 인구가 10만 명 이상 증가한 달성군이 특히 젊은층의 대거 유입으로 세대별 정책요구가 더욱 다양해지고 있다”고 설명했다.
이어 “맞벌이 부모를 위한 맞춤형 보육·교육 정책, 청년층과 어르신 모두가 만족할 수 있는 양질의 일자리 창출, 선진도시형 주거환경 조성 등을 통해 달성군의 양적 성장에 걸맞는 질적 성장을 이루겠다.”고 포부를 밝혔다.
한편 최 전 시의원은 4년간의 대구시 의정활동을 통해 입법·행정 경험을 쌓았고, 추경호 국회의원 보좌관 등으로 재직하며 지역발전 예산 확보와 주요 지역현안 해결에 주도적인 역할을 해왔다. 특히 대구시의회 교육위원회 위원으로 활동하면서 대구지역 학생들의 교육 인프라 향상 등에 많은 기여를 했다는 평가를 받고 있다.
