대구시는 21일 ‘맑은 물 하이웨이 추진방안 검토 용역’ 착수보고회를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이날 착수보고회는 이종화 경제부시장의 인사말을 시작으로 용역진 ‘다산 컨소시엄’의 총괄 연구책임자인 건국대학교 토목환경공학과 김성준 교수의 착수 보고에 이어 질의응답 및 토론 시간으로 진행됐다.

주요 보고 내용에는 안동·임하댐 등 기술·경제적 타당성 검토, 장래 용수 수요 및 수급 전망․분석, 그간 중앙 및 지방정부의 낙동강 물 관련 용역 검토,  대체 수자원 개발 등 안정성 확보방안,  이해관계자(정부, 지자체) 우려 사항 검토․검증 및 대응 방안 등을 담고 있다. 

대구시와 ‘다산 컨소시엄’은 착수 후 이른 시일 내 관련 제반 조사 등을 마치고 정부계획 반영을 위한 기술·경제적 타당성을 검토한 후 낙동강 상류 댐 물 공급에 대한 최적의 방안을 2023년 상반기까지 마련하여 환경부에 건의할 예정이다.

또 내년 말까지 대구시 물 수요·공급 정책을 종합적으로 검토하고 국내 전문가 그룹의 연구·자문과 포럼 등을 거쳐 대구시민을 위한 깨끗하고 안전한 물 공급 체계에 대한 비전과 방향을 제시할 것이다.

이종화 대구시 경제부시장은 “이번 용역을 통해 우리나라는 이제 강물을 원수로 쓰는 시대는 끝내고 깨끗한 식수 댐의 1급수 물을 안정적으로 공급하는 식수 정책 전환의 물꼬를 틔우는 계기가 될 것”이라고 밝혔다.
