영주시는 16일, 이번 평가 결과를 공식 발표하며 그간의 체계적이고 적극적인 산불 예방 활동의 성과를 인정받았다고 밝혔다.

이번 산불방지 평가는 특수시책 추진, 산불예방 홍보 실적, 산불진화 대응 체계 등을 종합적으로 평가한 것으로, 영주시는 전방위적 예방 정책과 현장 중심 대응으로 우수한 점수를 받았다.

영주시는 산불의 주요 원인 중 하나인 불법 소각을 근절하기 위해 영농부산물 파쇄 작업을 확대 운영하고, 유관기관과의 협력 캠페인을 통해 시민들의 산불 경각심을 높이는 데 주력했다. 이 같은 선제적 대응 노력은 산불 예방의 실효성을 크게 높인 것으로 평가된다.

특히 올해는 고온·건조한 기후 여건 속에서 산불 위험이 크게 고조된 상황이었다. 이에 따라 시는 산불감시원을 산림 취약지역에 집중 배치하고, 산불재난 국가위기경보가 ‘주의’ 단계로 격상됨에 따라 직원들의 현장 예방 활동을 대폭 강화했다.

또한, 산불진화 헬기를 임차해 초기 진화 능력을 높이고, 유관기관과의 긴밀한 협조체계를 구축해 신속하고 유기적인 대응 시스템을 가동했다.

영주시는 민간단체의 자율적인 참여 유도, 상황별 즉각 대응 체계 구축 등 입체적인 방재 전략을 통해 산불방지 기반을 한층 더 견고히 다졌다는 평가를 받았다.
