이날 행사에는 한상숙 영주시 농업기술센터 소장을 비롯해 시의원, 농업인 단체장, 지역 농업인 등 300여 명이 참석해 농산물공판장의 새 출발을 축하했다.
풍기농협 농산물공판장은 지난 7월 4일 기존 경매식 집하장에서 정식 공판장으로 승격됐다. 최신 선별기와 저온유통 시스템을 갖춘 현대식 시설로 탈바꿈하며, 향후 사과의 품질 유지와 유통 효율성 향상에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
이번에 출하된 ‘아오리’ 사과는 여름철 상큼한 맛과 아삭한 식감으로 소비자들의 큰 인기를 끌고 있으며, 특히 풍기 지역에서 재배된 아오리는 맛과 품질 면에서 높은 평가를 받고 있다.
한상숙 소장은 “농산물공판장 승격과 여름사과 출하는 영주시 과수산업의 새로운 전기를 의미한다”며 “앞으로 고품질 사과 생산 기반을 확대하고, 농업인의 안정적인 소득을 위한 지원 정책을 강화해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
영주시는 이번 출하를 계기로 ‘아오리’ 사과의 전국 유통 확대와 브랜드 이미지 제고에 박차를 가할 방침이다. 더불어 국산 여름사과 시장에서 ‘영주사과’의 입지를 더욱 확고히 하고, 지역 과수산업의 자립 기반을 공고히 해나간다는 계획이다.
