가해 학생이 정규 수업을 마친 뒤 특정 과목 교사에게 에프킬라를 뿌린 귤을 건넸고, 교사는 아무런 사실도 모른 채 그 귤을 먹은 것으로 알려졌다.

사건은 지난 9월 19일 발생했다. 학교 측은 심각성을 인식해 동부지역교권보호위원회에 관련 사안을 신고했다. 보호위원회는 지난달 16일 학생의 고의성 여부와 경위 등을 심의했다. 위원회는 9월 22일 “교사에게 피해가 발생했고, 학생이 교권을 침해했다”고 결론내렸다. 학교 관계자는 “학생과 교사 모두에게 피해가 없는 방향으로 원만히 해결하겠다”는 입장을 밝혔다.

하지만 대구교사노조는 학교 측의 대응을 강하게 비판하고 나섰다. 노조는 “이번 사건은 단순한 장난이나 우발적 행동이 아니라 교사의 생명과 신체를 직접적으로 위협한 심각한 교권 침해”라고 규정했다.

특히, 학교 측이 내세운 ‘원만한 해결’이라는 표현에 대해서는 “신체적·정신적 피해를 입은 교사에게 또 한 번 상처를 주는 2차 가해”라며 강한 유감을 표했다.

노조는 이어 “실질적인 법적·제도적 조치가 반드시 필요하다”며 학교와 교육청에 일회성 보호가 아닌 근본적인 대책 마련을 촉구했다.

이번 사건을 계기로 교권 보호를 위한 실효성 있는 방안 마련이 절실하다는 목소리가 교육계 내에서 커지고 있다.
