연수는 1기부터 3기까지 총 44명이 참여했다. 선린대와 포항시가 맺은 산불 대응 협력 업무협약(MOU)에 따른 사업으로, 기본적인 드론 비행 원리 교육부터 산불 상황 특화 촬영, 실제 산림환경을 가정한 실습까지 포함됐다.

전경국 선린대 평생교육원장은 “짧지만 밀도 높은 교육 기간 동안 수료생들이 의미 있는 성장을 이뤄냈다”며 “앞으로 산불 대응 현장에서 전문성과 책임감을 바탕으로 역할을 해주길 기대한다”고 말했다.

김보현 포항시 푸른도시사업단 산림관리팀장도 “산불 현장 확인 속도가 대응의 성패를 좌우한다”며 “드론 운용 인력이 늘어난 만큼 산불 대응 체계도 한층 강화될 것”이라고 했다.

선린대는 야간 교육이 가능한 자체 드론 실습장을 갖추고 있다. 학교 측은 “올해 교육을 성공적으로 마무리한 만큼, 내년에도 과정 운영을 이어가 지역 산불 대응 전문 인력 양성과 시스템 구축에 힘쓸 계획”이라고 밝혔다.

Kim Bo-hyeon, head of the forest management team at Pohang City's Green City Project, said, "The speed of forest fire site confirmation determines the success or failure of our response. As the number of drone operators increases, our forest fire response system will also be significantly strengthened."

Seonlin University has its own drone training facility that offers nighttime training. The school stated, "Having successfully completed this year's training, we plan to continue operating the program next year and focus on developing specialized personnel and systems for local forest fire response."
