선린대 간호학과는 지난 4일 오후 캠퍼스 믿음관에서 대학혁신지원사업의 하나로 ‘예비간호사를 위한 전공역량 점핑업 인성특강(2차)’을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 특강은 ‘불꽃처럼 살다, 지금 행복을 말하다’를 주제로 이태석재단 구수환 이사장을 초청해 진행됐다. 구 이사장은 KBS 시사 프로그램 ‘추적 60분’ 책임PD 및 진행자로 활동한 언론인으로, 다큐멘터리 영화 ‘울지마 톤즈’와 ‘부활’을 제작하며 고(故) 이태석 신부의 나눔 정신을 사회에 확산시킨 바 있다.

특강에서 구 이사장은 의료 현장에서 환자와 가장 가까이 마주하는 직업인 간호사에게 필요한 인성과 공감 능력의 중요성을 강조했다. 그는 “간호의 본질은 기술이 아니라 환자를 이해하고 공감해 주는 마음”이라며 “여러분이 현장에서 누군가의 삶을 밝히는 존재가 되길 바란다”고 말했다.

특강에 참여한 학생들은 이번 강연이 간호사로서의 직업적 사명과 윤리를 되돌아보는 계기가 됐다고 평가했다. 한 학생은 “감동적인 영상과 강연을 통해 간호직의 본질이 ‘사람을 돌보는 마음’임을 다시 느꼈다”고 소감을 전했다.

선린대 간호학과는 앞으로도 학생들이 전문기술과 인성을 균형 있게 갖춘 의료인으로 성장할 수 있도록 교육과정 및 체험형 프로그램을 확대할 계획이다.

The lecture, themed "Live Like a Flame, Speak of Happiness Now," was delivered by Koo Su-hwan, Chairman of the Lee Tae-seok Foundation. Koo, a journalist who served as the executive producer and host of the KBS current affairs program "Tracking 60 Minutes," has contributed to the late Father Lee Tae-seok's spirit of sharing through his work in the documentary films "Don't Cry, Tones" and "Resurrection."

During the lecture, Koo emphasized the importance of character and empathy for nurses, who are among the most closely connected professionals in the medical field. He said, "The essence of nursing is not technical skills, but a heart that understands and empathizes with patients. I hope you will become a brighter presence in the field."

Students who participated in the special lecture commented that it provided an opportunity to reflect on their professional mission and ethics as nurses. One student said, "Through the moving video and lecture, I once again realized that the essence of nursing is 'a heart that cares for people.'"

The Department of Nursing at Sunlin University plans to expand its curriculum and experiential programs to help students develop into medical professionals with a balanced mix of professional skills and character.
