【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=선린대학교(총장 곽진환) 국제교류교육센터는 지난 1월 16일 한국어과정에 재학 중인 외국인 유학생 120여 명을 대상으로 한국전통 문화체험행사를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 행사는 포근한 날씨 속에 유학생들이 덕동문화마을을 방문해 한국 전통문화를 직접 체험하는 방식으로 진행됐다. 참가 학생들은 난타와 판소리 공연 체험을 비롯해 한식 퓨전요리인 사과피자 만들기, 오곡강정 만들기, 인절미 메치기, 다도 예절 등 총 6개 프로그램에 참여하며 한국 문화의 멋과 맛을 몸소 느끼는 시간을 가졌다.

겨울학기에 입학한 신입생 토 프엉 타오(베트남) 학생은 “인터넷으로만 보던 한국 전통문화를 직접 체험할 수 있어 매우 신기하고 재미있었다”며 “특히 한복을 직접 입어볼 수 있어 기분이 좋았다”고 소감을 전했다.

한국 유학 6개월 차인 테미르베코바 아델리나(키르기스스탄) 학생도 “최근 키르기스스탄에서 열린 한국 전통문화공연단의 난타 공연이 큰 호응을 얻었다는 소식을 들었는데, 오늘 직접 난타를 체험할 수 있어 매우 흥미로웠다”고 말했다.

박정훈 국제교류교육센터장은 “언어 학습만큼 중요한 것이 그 나라의 문화를 직접 체험하며 이해하는 것”이라며 “앞으로도 외국인 유학생들이 한국 생활에 즐겁게 적응할 수 있도록 다양한 전통문화 체험 프로그램을 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편 선린대학교 국제교류교육센터는 매년 우수한 외국인 유학생을 유치해 연 4학기의 체계적인 한국어 교육과정을 운영하고 있으며, 한국어 교육뿐만 아니라 문화·진로 체험, 집중 상담 등 유학생들의 안정적인 정주와 성공적인 유학 생활을 돕는 다양한 지원 프로그램을 제공하고 있다.

Sunlin University International Students Broaden Their Understanding of Korea through Traditional Cultural Experiences

Sunlin University (President Kwak Jin-hwan) announced that it held a traditional Korean cultural experience event for approximately 120 international students enrolled in the Korean Language Program on January 16th.

The event took place in the warm weather, with the students visiting Deokdong Cultural Village to experience traditional Korean culture firsthand. Participants participated in six programs, including Nanta and Pansori performances, making apple pizza, a Korean fusion dish, five-grain gangjeong (rice cake pancake), making injeolmi (rice cake batter), and tea ceremony etiquette. They immersed themselves in the beauty and flavor of Korean culture.

Tho Phuong Thao (Vietnam), a freshman who enrolled in the winter semester, said, "It was fascinating and fun to experience Korean traditional culture firsthand, something I had only seen online. I was especially happy to be able to try on hanbok."

Adelina Temirbekova (Kyrgyzstan), a student studying in Korea for six months, said, "I recently heard that the Korean Traditional Culture Performance Group's Nanta performance in Kyrgyzstan was very well-received, and it was very exciting to experience Nanta firsthand today."

Park Jeong-hoon, Director of the International Exchange and Education Center, stated, "Experiencing and understanding a country's culture firsthand is just as important as learning a language. We will continue to expand our diverse traditional culture experience programs to help international students successfully adapt to life in Korea."

Meanwhile, the Sunlin University International Exchange and Education Center attracts outstanding international students every year and operates a systematic Korean language program for four semesters. Beyond Korean language instruction, the Center also offers various support programs, including cultural and career experience programs and intensive counseling, to help international students settle in and succeed in their studies.
