선린대학교 국제교류교육센터는 호텔조리제빵바리스타과 입학 예정 외국인 유학생을 대상으로 바리스타 자격증 취득 프로그램을 운영한 결과, 참여자 12명 전원이 커피 바리스타 2급 자격증을 취득했다고 밝혔다.

이번 자격증 시험은 지난 1월 21일 화평관 2층 스마트강의실과 1층 실습실에서 실시됐으며, 호텔조리제빵바리스타과 입학 예정 외국인 유학생 12명이 응시해 전원 합격하는 성과를 올렸다. 해당 프로그램은 전공 연계 자격증 취득을 통해 유학생들의 실무 역량을 강화하고, 향후 지역 내 호텔·외식·카페 산업 분야로의 취업 연계를 지원하기 위해 마련됐다.

바리스타 자격증 취득 교육은 1월 5일부터 16일까지 총 10회차에 걸쳐 진행됐으며, 하루 2시간씩 송용 교수가 강의를 맡아 운영했다. 교육 과정은 커피의 역사와 문화, 에스프레소 추출, 우유 스티밍, 카푸치노 제조 실습 등 이론과 실습을 병행한 현장 중심 교육으로 구성돼 자격증 취득은 물론 실무 적응력 향상에 중점을 뒀다.

자격증 시험은 30분간의 필기시험과 실기시험으로 진행됐으며, 실기시험에서는 제한 시간 10분 내 에스프레소 2잔과 카푸치노 2잔을 제조하는 과제가 주어져 응시자들의 전문성과 숙련도를 종합적으로 평가했다.

박정훈 국제교류교육센터장은 “이번 바리스타 자격증 취득은 유학생들의 전공 이해도를 높이고 취업 경쟁력을 강화하는 데 실질적인 도움이 되는 성과”라며 “전원 합격은 유학생들의 성실한 노력과 체계적인 교육이 만들어낸 결과”라고 말했다. 이어 “앞으로도 자격증 취득과 연계한 취업 지원 프로그램을 확대해 유학생들이 포항 지역에 안정적으로 정착하고 지역 산업 발전에 기여할 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편 선린대학교 국제교류교육센터는 자격증 취득 프로그램을 비롯해 취업·진로 상담, 문화체험, 동아리 및 멘토링 활동 등 다양한 지원 프로그램을 운영하며 외국인 유학생들의 안정적인 학업과 지역 기반 취업 정착을 위해 지속적으로 노력하고 있다.

Sunlin University's International Exchange and Education Center announced that all 12 participants in its barista certification program for prospective Hotel Culinary Arts and Bakery Barista students have earned Level 2 Coffee Barista certification.

The certification exam was held on January 21st in the Smart Lecture Room on the 2nd floor and the Practice Room on the 1st floor of Hwapyeong Hall. All 12 prospective Hotel Culinary Arts and Bakery Barista students passed the exam. This program is designed to strengthen international students' practical skills by providing them with a certification linked to their major and to support future employment opportunities in the local hotel, restaurant, and café industries.

The barista certification training was conducted over ten sessions from January 5th to 16th, with Professor Song Yong leading the two-hour lectures each day. The curriculum focused on practical training, combining theory and hands-on practice, covering topics such as the history and culture of coffee, espresso extraction, milk steaming, and cappuccino making. The focus was on not only obtaining the certification but also enhancing practical skills.

The certification exam consisted of a 30-minute written exam and a practical test. The practical test required candidates to prepare two espressos and two cappuccinos within a 10-minute time limit, comprehensively assessing their expertise and proficiency.

Park Jeong-hoon, Director of the International Exchange and Education Center, stated, "This barista certification is a tangible achievement that enhances international students' understanding of their major and enhances their job competitiveness. The success of all students is a testament to their dedicated efforts and systematic training." He continued, "We will continue to expand our employment support programs linked to certification acquisition, actively supporting international students to settle securely in the Pohang region and contribute to the development of local industries."
