탄소중립 사회로의 전환을 촉진하기 위해 친환경 차량 보급 사업에도 속도를 낸다. 예천군은 25억 원을 투입해 전기·수소차 등 친환경 차량 224대를 지원하고, 전기차 이용 활성화를 위한 충전 인프라 구축도 병행 추진한다. 이와 함께 노후 경유차 조기 폐차, 매연저감장치 부착, 건설기계 엔진 교체 등 저공해화 사업에 9억 원을 투입해 320대를 지원함으로써 대기환경 개선에 나선다.

기후위기 대응과 군민 건강 보호를 위한 생활환경 개선 사업도 확대된다. 미세먼지로부터 군민 건강을 지키기 위해 6천만 원을 들여 미세먼지 스마트 에어샤워기 설치 사업을 추진하고, 11억 원의 예산으로 슬레이트 철거 및 지붕 개량 사업을 실시해 255여 동의 주거환경 개선을 지원한다. 방치된 슬레이트는 12개 읍·면을 대상으로 안전하게 처리할 예정이다.

농작물 피해와 군민 안전 확보를 위해서는 2억5천만 원을 투입해 야생동물 피해 예방 시설 설치와 피해 방지단 운영을 추진한다. 아울러 관내 하천 주변으로 확산되고 있는 생태계 교란식물인 가시박 제거 사업을 통해 건강한 생태계 유지와 생물다양성 보전에도 힘쓴다.

청정예천의 상징인 ‘물 맑은 하천’ 조성을 위한 사업도 이어진다. 군은 30억 원을 투입해 하천수 수질 모니터링과 비점오염 저감 시설, 환경기초시설을 체계적으로 관리하고, 드론을 활용한 환경오염 행위 단속을 강화할 방침이다. 이와 함께 국비 5억 원을 포함해 총사업비 약 10억 원 규모의 환경기초시설 개선 사업을 추진해 폐수처리 역량을 높이고 깨끗한 수계 조성에 주력한다.

자원순환 문화 확산을 위한 범군민 ‘클린예천’ 운동도 지속 추진된다. 폐아이스팩과 폐현수막 재활용 사업, 클린예천 보물마차, 재활용품 무인회수기 운영을 이어가는 한편, 캔·페트병 무인회수기 확대 설치와 폐건전지 무인회수기 신규 설치를 통해 재활용 활성화를 도모한다. 또한 28억 원을 투입해 생활폐기물 수집·운반과 대형폐기물 처리를 민간 전문 업체에 위탁함으로써 예산 절감과 처리 효율성 제고를 꾀한다. 올해는 2천4백만 원을 들여 텀블러 세척기 시범 설치 사업을 추진하며 1회용품 사용 저감에도 나선다.

한편 예천군은 지난해 군공항 소음으로 피해를 입은 군민 4,932명에게 총 17억7천만 원의 소음 피해 보상금을 지급한 바 있다.

이 같은 노력의 성과로 예천군 환경관리과는 2025년 한 해 동안 폐현수막 자원순환 문화조성 경진대회 우수, 폐가전제품 무상 방문수거 우수지자체 경진대회 금상, 경북환경대상 최우수, 탄소중립 실천평가 최우수 등 각종 평가와 경진대회에서 우수한 성적을 거두며 환경행정의 우수성을 인정받았다.

예천군 관계자는 “2050 탄소중립 실현을 위해서는 온실가스 감축을 위한 실천이 무엇보다 중요한 시점”이라며 “앞으로도 기후위기에 선제적으로 대응하고, 군민과 함께 지속 가능한 클린예천을 만들어 나가겠다”고 말했다.
