예천군은 주거 여건이 열악한 농촌 취약지역을 대상으로 한 농어촌 취약지역 생활여건 개조사업을 지속적으로 확대하고 있다. 정부 공모사업에 전략적으로 대응한 결과, 2015년부터 현재까지 총 17개 지구, 321억 원의 사업비를 확보했다.

2026년에는 32억 원을 투입해 10개 지구에서 사업을 추진한다. 현재 추진 중인 지구 3개소를 비롯해 시행계획 수립 3개 지구, 기본계획 수립 4개 지구로 구성되며, 신규 공모 대상지 2개소도 사전 준비에 만전을 기하고 있다. 이를 통해 주민 숙원 해결과 주거복지 개선을 동시에 도모한다는 계획이다.

주요 사업은 △수리시설 개보수 21개 지구 △한발 대비 용수개발 4개 지구 △기계화 경작로 확·포장 2개 지구 등으로, 가뭄과 침수 등 기후 변화에 선제적으로 대응하기 위한 것이다. 대부분의 공사는 농번기 이전인 4월 내 마무리해 농업인의 불편을 최소화할 계획이다.

용문·효자·용궁·풍양면 4개소에서는 총 155억 원 규모의 기초생활거점 조성사업이 순조롭게 진행되고 있다. 문화·복지·교육 등 생활서비스 기능을 확충해 배후 마을까지 혜택이 확산되도록 2027년 준공을 목표로 하고 있다.

아울러 농림축산식품부 공모사업으로 선정된 농촌공간 정비사업을 통해 용문면 상금곡지구(103억 원)와 용궁면 금남지구(50억 원)의 유해시설을 정비해 주민 숙원이던 악취 문제를 해소하고, 안전하고 쾌적한 농촌 정주환경을 조성할 계획이다.

예천군 관계자는 “농촌의 삶터와 일터, 쉼터를 아우르는 체계적인 정비를 통해 누구나 살고 싶고 돌아오고 싶은 예천을 만들겠다”며 “모든 사업을 차질 없이 추진해 주민들이 체감할 수 있는 실질적인 변화를 이끌어내겠다”고 밝혔다.
