대구시에 따르면 이들은 대구시청 별관 부지에 있는 다른 기관의 사무실 직원으로 알려지며 최초 확진자는 청도 확진자와 관련되어 지난 26일 양성 판정을 받은 것으로 알려진다.

방역당국은 최초 확진자가 발생하자 같은 사무실 직원 14명에게 전수검사를 실시하였으며 이들 중 8명의 감염 사실을 확인하면서 대구시는 방역에 비상이 걸렸다.

이들 중 3명이 대구시청 별관 구내식당을 이용한 사실이 확인되었기 때문이다. 역학조사에 따르면 당시 마스크 착용 등의 방역수칙은 준수한 것으로 알려진다.

그러나 함께 일한 직원들 중 고령자가 있는 점 등을 감안하여 해당 사무실을 일시 폐쇄 조치하고 음성 판정을 받은 직원들 역시 자가격리에 들어간 것으로 알려지며 방역당국은 추가 접촉을 우려하여 예의주시 하고 있는 것으로 알려진다.
