지난 19일 검찰은 더불어민주당 이재명 대표의 최측근 김용 민주연구원 부원장을 긴급체포하고 자택을 압수수색한데 민주당 중앙당사와 민주연구원에 대한 압수수색을 시도했다. 

이에 더불어민주당은 국정감사를 전면 중단하고 당사에 집합해 검찰의 압수수색에 강하게 반발했고 검찰과 민주당 의원들이 7시간이 넘는 대치를 벌인 끝에 압수수색은 무산됐다.

이를 두고 정치 탄압과 법치주의 훼손이라는 주장이 첨예하게 대립되는 가운데 24일 오전 검찰은 지난 압수수색 시도 닷새 만에 또 다시 더불어민주당 중앙당사와 민주연구원에 대한 압수수색을 재시도 했다.

더불어민주당 대구시당은 이 같은 검찰의 압수수색을 ‘기습적 민주당사 침탈’이라고 표현하며 같은 날 오후 1시 30분 대구지방검찰청 앞에서 긴급 기자회견을 개최했다.

민주당 대구시당은 “검찰이 신분을 밝히지 않은 채 출근자들에게 섞여서 기습적으로 (중앙당사) 8층에 진입했다”면서 “이는 침탈이자 난입”이라고 목소리를 높였다.

그러면서 이들은 “엄연한 정치 탄압이며, 대한민국의 민주주의를 말살시키는 행태에 분노한다.”고 강조하며 “윤석열 정권과 정치검찰은 민주당에 대한 압수수색 즉각 중단하고 검찰총장은 즉각 사퇴하라”고 촉구했다.

한편 더불어민주당은 검찰의 중앙당사 압수수색에 대한 반발의 의미로 불참했던 국정감사에 복귀를 결정하였으나 25일 예정된 윤석열 대통령의 시정연설은 수용하지 않겠다는 입장을 밝혀 갈등은 이어질 것으로 전망된다.
