6일 오전 11시 더불어민주당 대구시당 김대중홀에서는 열린 더불어민주당, 새진보연합, 진보당의 지역단위 선거연합을 발표 기자회견은 새진보연합 용혜인 대표, 더불어민주당 강민구 대구시당위원장, 새진보연합 신원호 대구시당위원장, 진보당 황순규 대구시당위원장과 각 지역구 출마후보자들이 참석했다.

이들은 새진보연합이 수성구을 지역구에 후보를 내고 더불어민주당은 동구을 지역구를 진보당에 양보하는 것과 함께 선거운동에 나서는 데 합의했다.

이에 따라 대구 12개 선거구 가운데 더불어민주당 8곳, 진보당 2곳, 새진보연합 1곳 등 11곳에서 후보자를 낸다. 

대구 동구을에는 더불어민주당 이승천 예비후보가 자리를 내려놓고 진보당 황순규 예비후보가 야권 단일 후보로 나서게 되었다.

수성구을에는 새진보연합이 후보를 낼 예정으로 신원호 대구시당위원장과 대구 출신으로 알려진 오준호 새진보연합 정책본부장 등이 거론된다.

이와 관련 용혜인 대표는 “새진보연합이 검토하고 있는 후보가 한분이 아니다”면서 “오는 9일 당 대의원대회를 통해 최종적으로 승리를 만드는데 기여할 수 있는 후보를 확정할 것”이라고 밝혔다.

또한 용 대표는 “3당이 연합정치를 합의하고 더불어민주연합이 출범한 이후 지역구에서 첫 번째 원팀이 구성된 소식을 국민들게 전할 수 있게 되어 기쁘다”며 “대구에서의 모범적이고 헌신적인 연합이 전국에서 야권의 승리를 만들어낼 주춧돌이 될 것이다”라며 입장을 전했다.
