【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경상북도가 몽골과 핵심광물 및 미래에너지산업 협력을 위해 적극 나섰다.

양금희 경제부지사는 27일 몽골 울란바타르에서 열린 ‘2024 한-몽 미래전략포럼’에 참석해 한국과 몽골 간 미래산업 발전에 대한 의견을 제시했다.

이번 포럼은 글로벌 기후 위기에 대응하기 위한 미래 에너지의 중요성을 인식하고, 양국 간 공동의 지속 가능한 발전 전략을 구축한다는 데 의미가 있다.

포럼에서는 한-몽 핵심 광물 협력 방안과 에너지전환과 탄소중립 등 2가지 세션으로 발표와 토론이 진행됐다.

양금희 경제부지사, 김숙 前 UN대사, 박영준 안세재단 이사장, 이호현 산업부 에너지정책실장, 장영진 대한무역보험공사 사장, 초이질수렝 몽골 에너지부 장관, 잔당샤타르 몽골 대통령실장, 강투무르 몽골 경제개발부 장관 등 주요 기관･기업인 등 200여 명이 포럼에 참석했다.

양 부지사는 축사에서 “경북도는 울란바타르시와 2007년 우호 협력을 체결한 후 농업․도시개발․의료 등 많은 분야에서 폭넓은 교류와 협력을 했다”며, “이번 포럼에서도 양국 간 공동의 문제를 짚어보고 경험과 지식을 공유하기를 원한다”고 밝히고, “오늘 폭넓은 토론을 통해 한-몽 간 미래산업을더욱 발전시키고 앞당기길 바란다”고 말했다.

경북도와 울란바타르시는 2018년 5월, 에너지 분야 업무 협력을 계기로, 지역기업과 공동으로 에너지저장장치(ESS) 융합시스템 실증사업(3억원, 울란바타르시의 주택 7개소)을 완료한 바 있다.

앞으로 도는 몽골의 미래 전략 사업에 경북의 우수한 에너지 기업이 많이 참여할 수 있도록 지원할 계획이라고 밝혔다. 또한 기후 위기 극복과 함께 양국 간 에너지 분야의 교류 협력 확대를 포럼 참여기관들과 지속해서 모색할 계획이다.

몽골은 국토가 넓고 우기가 짧으며 해발이 높아서 태양광, 풍력 등 재생에너지 잠재량이 풍부한 지리적･환경적 강점을 가졌다.

한편, 양 부지사는 이날 포럼 참석에 앞서 국가 간 탄소배출권 관련 에너지 분야의 정책 공유와 ODA, EDCF 사업 등을 논의하기 위해 볼간토야 몽골 국회부의장과 면담했다.

양 부지사는 면담에서 몽골의 급격한 도시화와 인구의 수도권 집중, 산업화 진행이 상대적으로 게르촌 등 도시 외곽이 열악해지는 현상이 지구촌 지방 도시들의 공통된 문제로 인식을 공유하고 경북도에서 성공적으로 추진하고 있는 이웃사촌 시범 마을을 소개했다.

Gyeongsangbuk-do Province actively participates in cooperation with Mongolia in key minerals and future energy industries.

On the 27th, Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs Yang Geum-hee attended the ‘2024 Korea-Mongolia Future Strategy Forum’ held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and presented her opinions on the development of future industries between Korea and Mongolia.

This forum is significant in that it recognizes the importance of future energy in responding to the global climate crisis and establishes a joint sustainable development strategy between the two countries.

The forum featured presentations and discussions in two sessions: Korea-Mongolia key mineral cooperation measures and energy transition and carbon neutrality.

About 200 people including Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs Yang Geum-hee, former UN Ambassador Kim Sook, Anse Foundation Chairman Park Young-joon, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Energy Policy Director Lee Ho-hyun, Korea Trade Insurance Corporation President Jang Young-jin, Mongolian Energy Minister Choi Zilsureng, Mongolian Presidential Office Director Zandangshatar, Mongolian Minister of Economic Development Kang Tumur, and other key organizations and businesspeople attended the forum.

In his congratulatory remarks, Vice Governor Yang said, “Since the establishment of friendly cooperation with Ulaanbaatar in 2007, Gyeongbuk Province has engaged in extensive exchanges and cooperation in many areas, including agriculture, urban development, and healthcare,” and added, “At this forum, we hope to discuss common issues between the two countries and share our experiences and knowledge.” He added, “Through today’s extensive discussions, we hope to further develop and advance future industries between Korea and Mongolia.”

In May 2018, Gyeongbuk Province and Ulaanbaatar City completed a joint energy storage system (ESS) convergence system demonstration project (KRW 300 million, 7 houses in Ulaanbaatar City) with local companies as a means of cooperation in the energy sector.

The province announced that it plans to support the participation of many excellent energy companies in Gyeongbuk Province in Mongolia’s future strategic projects. In addition, it plans to continuously seek ways to expand exchanges and cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries along with overcoming the climate crisis with the participating organizations of the forum.

Mongolia has a large territory, a short rainy season, and a high altitude, so it has geographic and environmental strengths that allow for abundant renewable energy potential such as solar and wind power.

Meanwhile, prior to attending the forum, Vice Governor Yang met with Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Mongolia Bolganttoya to discuss sharing of energy policies related to carbon emissions between countries and ODA and EDCF projects.

During the meeting, Vice Governor Yang shared the recognition that Mongolia’s rapid urbanization, population concentration in the metropolitan area, and industrialization progress have led to the relative deterioration of the outskirts of cities such as ger villages, as common problems for regional cities around the world, and introduced the Neighboring Cousin Model Village that is being successfully promoted in Gyeongbuk Province.
