【브레이크뉴스 경북 】이성현 기자=경상북도가 바이오 및 백신산업의 특화를 위해 IVI와 손을 잡았다. 경북도는 25일, 국제백신연구소와 백신산업 클러스터 글로벌 협력을 위한 MOU를 체결하고 국제백신연구소 안동분원 현판식을 개최하는 등 본격적인 특화단지 조성에 나섰다.

협약식에는 양금희 경제부지사, 제롬김 국제백신연구소 사무총장, 신동보 안동시 부시장, 정태주 국립안동대학교 총장, 전익조 경북바이오산업연구원장, 임재환 국가첨단백신개발센터장, 이홍균 동물세포실증지원센터장 등이 참석한 가운데 열렸으며, 주요 협약 내용으로는 경북 백신산업 클러스터의 글로벌 협력 고도화를 위한 백신 개발 및 생산 보급을 위한 협력, 백신 R&D, 생산 파트너십, 연구 컨소시엄, 인력 양성, 기술지원, 사업화 협력, 국내외 네트워크의 공동 활용 협력, 지자체의 지원 등으로 알려졌다.. 

국제백신연구소(IVI)는 1997년 설립된 대한민국에 본부를 둔 최초의 국제기구로 서울대학교 내에 자리하고 있다. 

이곳에서는 전 세계 공중 보건 향상을 위해 백신 연구, 개발, 보급을 주요 임무로, 주로 저소득국의 백신 접근성을 높이는 데 중점을 두고 있다.

국제백신연구소 안동분원은 2016년 설립됐다. 그동안 임상시험검체분석기관(GCLP) 구축, A형 간염 백신 및 SFTS/HFRS 백신 공동 연구개발 등에 힘쓰고 있다.

경상북도는 백신산업 클러스터 조성을 위해 백신상용화기술지원센터, 동물세포실증지원센터를 구축하고, 지난해 3월‘안동 바이오생명 국가산업단지’후보지 선정에 따른 예비타당성조사 신청을 준비 중에 있다. 현재 신병종 감염병 대응을 위한 AI 기반 항원 라이브러리 조성을 위한 재) 국가첨단백신개발센터 구축을 추진 중이다.

또한 국제백신연구소 및 지역 대학 등과 협업을 통해 백신 클러스터 입주기업이 글로벌시장에 진출할 수 있도록 준비중에 있으며. 특히‘경북 바이오·백신산업 특화단지’ 지정에 많은 기대를 하고 있다. 

양금희 경제부지사는 “국제백신연구소 안동분원은 경북 백신산업 클러스터가 글로벌 백신 허브 도약을 위한 중추적인 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다”며“경북이 주도하는 글로벌 백신산업의 거점으로 도약하기 위해 안동 백신산업 인프라를 연계해 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.

The International Vaccine Institute (IVI), established in 1997, is the first international organization headquartered in Korea and is located at Seoul National University.

The Andong branch of the International Vaccine Research Institute was established in 2016. Meanwhile, efforts are being made to establish a clinical trial specimen analysis laboratory (GCLP) and joint research and development of hepatitis A vaccine and SFTS/HFRS vaccine.

Gyeongsangbuk-do has established a Vaccine Commercialization Technology Support Center and an Animal Cell Verification Support Center to create a vaccine industry cluster, and is preparing to apply for a preliminary feasibility study following the selection of a candidate site for the ‘Andong Bio-Life National Industrial Complex’ in March of last year. Currently, we are pursuing the establishment of a national advanced vaccine development center to create an AI-based antigen library to respond to new infectious diseases.
