【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경상북도의회(의장 박성만)는 지난 3월 25일 일본 고등학교 사회과 교과서에서 독도 영유권을 왜곡한 내용에 대해 즉각적인 시정을 요구하는 성명서를 발표했다.

성명서에서 도의회는 일본 문부과학성이 고등학교 사회과 교과서에서 대한민국 고유의 영토인 독도를 '다케시마(竹島)'로 표기하고, 한국이 불법 점거하고 있다는 왜곡된 서술을 포함시킨 것에 대해 강력히 규탄했다. 

또한 교육이 국가 정체성과 가치관 형성에 결정적인 역할을 한다는 점을 강조하며, 일본 정부에게 사회과 교과서의 독도 영유권 관련 왜곡 표기 즉각 시정, 올바른 역사교육 실시, 독도 관련 모든 도발 행위 중단, 그리고 진정한 과거사 반성과 화해의 길로 나설 것을 요구했다.

박성만 의장은 "진정한 유산은 과오를 정당화하는 것이 아니라, 그것을 인정할 용기에 있으며, 이를 통해 후대는 더 현명한 미래를 건설한다"며 일본의 교과서 왜곡을 엄중히 비판했다. 또한 "경북도의회는 독도의 역사적 진실을 수호하고, 다음 세대에 올바른 역사 인식을 전달하기 위해 모든 역량을 결집할 것"이라고 강조했다.

특히 박 의장은 "국제사회에서 선진국으로 인정받기 위해서는 정직함을 바탕으로 한 상호 신뢰가 필수적"이라며, "일본이 제국주의 시대에 자행한 과오를 진심으로 반성하고, 이를 토대로 진정한 선진국으로 거듭나야 한다"는 입장을 표명했다.

연규식 독도수호특별위원장은 "왜곡된 역사교육은 미래 세대까지 영토 분쟁을 지속시키는 심각한 문제"라며 우려를 표명했다. 또한 "독도 수호를 위해 유아 시기부터 늘봄학교 독도 교육 등을 통해 독도를 사랑하는 마음을 키울 수 있도록 집행부에 적극 주문하겠다"고 밝혔다.

On March 25, the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Council (Chairman Park Seong-man) issued a statement demanding immediate correction of the distortion of Dokdo sovereignty in Japanese high school social studies textbooks.

In particular, Chairman Park stated, “In order to be recognized as an advanced country in the international community, mutual trust based on honesty is essential,” and expressed his position that “Japan must sincerely reflect on the mistakes it committed during the imperialist era and be reborn as a truly advanced country based on this.”

Chairman Yeon Gyu-sik of the Dokdo Protection Special Committee expressed concern, saying, “Distorted history education is a serious problem that continues territorial disputes to future generations.” He also stated, “In order to protect Dokdo, I will actively urge the executive branch to foster a love for Dokdo through education on Dokdo at Neulbom School from early childhood.”
