독도의 날인 10월 25일 오전 10시 경산캠퍼스 인문대학 3호관 교수연구동 인문과학연구소에서 개최되는 이번 학술대회는 대한제국이 1900년 10월 25일에 ‘칙령41호’를 반포하고 10월 27일자로 관보(제1716호)에 게재하면서 독도가 한국의 고유영토라는 사실을 세계 각국에 알린 지 122주년 되는 것을 기념하기 위해 마련됐다.

학술대회에서는 최장근 대구대 독도영토학연구소장이 ‘고종황제, 독도관리를 위해 칙령41호로 울도군 설치하다’라는 주제발표에 나서며 조순 지산연구소 소장이 ‘한국역사 속의 독도 지위’를 주제로 발표를 진행한다.

최장근 대구대 독도영토학연구소장(글로벌언어문화학부 교수)은 “역사적으로나 국제법적으로 독도가 우리나라 영토라는 사실을 다시 한 번 되새기고, 독도를 연구하는 학자들과 시민단체 간 교류의 장이 되길 기대한다.”고 말했다.
