【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구교육청과 경북교육청이 7월 19일부터 22일까지 3박 4일간 ‘2022 독도수비리더 캠프’를 운영한다고 밝혔다.

경북·대구 고등학생 40명이 참여한 이번 캠프는 증진사업 일환으로 청소년들이 우리나라 고유 영토인 독도를 제대로 알고, 미래의 독도지킴이 리더로써 성장할 수 있도록 하기 위해 마련되었다.

경북교육청과 국립청소년해양센터가 공동으로 진행하는 이번 캠프에는 독도수업실천학교인 협성고와 영남고 학생 10명씩 20명이 참여한다. 

캠프에 참여한 학생들은 독도사랑을 의욕적으로 실천하고 홍보할 수 있는 고등학생들을 공모로 선발했으며, 특히 경북교육청 사이버 독도학교 중급 또는 고급 과정 수료를 신청 자격 요건으로 정했다.

참가 학생들은 청소년해양센터에서 사전 해양안전교육을 이수하고, 울릉도 해안 트래킹, 해양과학기지 및 독도박물관 견학, 독도경비대와의 만남 등의 프로그램에 참여하며, 독도 퍼포먼스, 울릉도 오리엔티어링 등 직접 울릉도와 독도를 탐방하며 지질, 지리, 문화, 역사 등의 전문적인 내용을 체험하는 등 미래의 독도지킴이리더로서 성장할 수 있는 소중한 기회를 갖는다.

또한, 캠프 활동을 토대로 독도 퍼포먼스를 만들어 영상을 제작하고 이를 SNS로 확산시키면서 울릉도 독도를 전 세계에 홍보해 민간 외교관의 역할을 수행하게 된다.

강은희 교육감은“이번 캠프를 통해 독도에 대한 학교와 학생의 관심이 확대되고, 독도이해 프로그램이 확산되는 계기가 되길 바란다.”며, “학교현장에서 수업과 교내활동을 통해 독도에 대한 이해도를 높일 수 있도록, 대구교육청에서 최선을 다하겠다.”고 말했다.

 임종식 교육감은 “경북과 대구의 고등학생들이 아름답고 평화로운 섬 독도를 탐방하며 서로의 우정을 다지는 값진 시간이 되기를 바란다.”며 “앞으로도 독도 탐방의 기회를 더욱 확대해 많은 학생들이 독도를 방문할 수 있도록 하겠다.”고 말했다.
