대구 북부경찰서는 7일 도로교통법 위반(음주운전) 및 교통사고처리특례법상 치상 혐의로 A씨(60대)를 불구속 입건했다고 밝혔다.

A씨는 전날인 6일 오전 5시 49분께 대구 북구 신천동 신천대로 칠성고가교에서 자신의 페라리를 몰고 칠성교 방향으로 역주행하던 중, 침산교 방향으로 정상 주행하던 포터 트럭과 정면 충돌한 혐의를 받고 있다.

이 사고로 A씨와 포터 트럭 운전자 모두 병원으로 이송됐으며, 생명에는 지장이 없는 것으로 확인됐다.

하지만 사고 여파로 인근 차량 2대가 추가로 접촉사고를 냈고, 주변에 있던 다른 차량 2대도 파편에 맞아 손상을 입는 등 총 5대의 차량이 피해를 본 것으로 조사됐다.

경찰은 A씨가 해당 사고 이전에도 다른 지점에서 접촉 사고를 낸 정황을 포착, 정확한 사고 경위와 동선 등을 조사 중이다. 특히 A씨의 혈중알코올농도는 면허 취소 수준에 해당하는 것으로 드러났다.

경찰 관계자는 “음주 상태로 고가의 차량을 운전하다가 대형 사고로 이어질 뻔한 위험한 상황이었다”며 “역주행 경위와 추가 피해 상황을 면밀히 조사할 방침”이라고 밝혔다.
