30일 진보당 대구시당은 “체감되는 시설이나 장비를 건드릴 수 없으니 3호선 운행관리원을 용역으로 전환하고 57명에 대한 구조조정으로 예산을 절감하겠다는 대구교통공사의 경영혁신안은 지하철 바퀴를 빼고 예산을 절감했다는 것과 다른 게 무엇이냐?”고 지적하며 논평을 발표했다.

앞서 대구지하철노조는 ▶구조조정‧민영화 계획 전면 철회 ▶일터의 안전과 열차운행을 위한 근무환경 개선 등을 요구하며 16년 만에 파업에 돌입하겠다고 밝혔으나 홍준표 대구시장은 페이스북을 통해 “모든 분야가 허리띠를 졸라매고 있는데 유독 대구 지하철 민주노총만 파업을 한다.”면서 “철저하게 무노동, 무임금 원칙을 지키도록 하고 불법은 절대 용납하지 않을 것”이라고 부정적인 입장을 밝혔다.

그러나 이 같은 홍 시장의 입장 표명에 대해 진보당 대구시당은 “(홍 시장이)본인이 내세운 ‘부채 탕감’ 기조에 동참하지 않는 대구지하철노조에 대해 불편한 심기를 드러냈다.”고 꼬집으며 “그러나 정작 불편한 것은 민영화와 구조조정이 초래할 안전과 공공성 약화를 바라보는 시민들의 심기”라고 질타했다.

그러면서 “당장은 불편 하지만 보다 안전하고, 안심할 수 있는 세상이 되길 바라는 시민들의 마음이 담긴 말로 대구지하철노동조합의 투쟁을 지지한다.”고 거듭 지하철노조에 대한 지지를 보냈다.
