지난 13일 대구경북통합신공항 특별법이 국회 본회의를 통과하며 대구경북 시도민의 오랜 염원이 결실을 맺었다.

이에 대구시의회는 14일 시의회 2층 간담회장에서 환영 성명을 발표하면서 사업의 성공적인 추진을 위한 협력과 적극적인 지원 의지를 표했다.

이들은 “특별법 국회 통과는 신공항 건설을 위한 지금까지의 과정 중 이전부지 선정과 군위군 대구 편입과 함께 가장 진일보한 성과”라고 평가했다.

이와 함께 “본격적인 추진동력이 마련된 만큼 중·남부권을 아우르는 거점공항이 될 수 있는 공항 시설 규모의 확보와 접근 교통망 건설, 배후 단지 조성, 종전부지 개발 등 종합적이고 체계적인 지원방안을 국가적 차원에서 마련하고 책임 있게 추진할 것을 바란다."라며 기대를 전했다.

이번 특별법의 통과로 기부 대 양여 차액 국비 지원, 예비 타당성조사 면제, 이전부지 개발사업 인허가 의제 등 사업 전반에 대한 우려가 상당 부분 해소돼 민간사업자 선정 등 신공항 건설 사업에 탄력이 붙을 것으로 기대된다.

대구시의회 통합신공항건설 특위 박소영 위원장은 “이번 특별법 통과는 대구·경북의 민·관·정이 합심해 한목소리를 낸 성과가 결실을 맺은 것”이라며 “신공항이 성공적으로 건설될 수 있도록 대구·경북 시도민들과 소통하며 나아갈 것”이라고 다짐했다.
