군위군 통합신공항 추진위원회(회장 박한배. 이하 추진위)는 10일 대구경북 국회의원들이 모여 대구편입과 관련한 논의를 진행한 것과 관련해 극도의 불만을 나타내며 김형동 의원을 대구경북의 역적으로 규정했다. 

또 국민의힘 지지를 철회하고 탈당을 추진하겠다고 밝혔다. 사실상 대선 주자인 윤석열 후보를 지지하지 않겠다는 엄포다.

추진위는 “‘서명과 입장문도 뒤집는 판국에 반대 당사자가 참여하지 않은 전원 찬성회의 결과발표는 믿을 수 없다.”며 “통합신공항 유치 조건이었던 군위군 대구편입 약속이 깨어지면 (신공항유치도)당연히 무효가 되어야 한다”고 강조했다. 그러면서 “통합신공항과 관련된 모든 절차 중단”을 요구했다.

추진위의 이 같은 요구는 통합신공항으로 가는 길목에서 그동안 우려됐던 일들이 현실이 된 것으로, 추진위 및 군위군이 거둬들이지 않는 이상 통합신공항 건설은 다시금 정체될 수밖에 없는 상황이 됐다. 

추진위는 “군위군의 대구편입은 시도지사를 비롯한 지역 정치권에서 먼저 제안한 공동후보지 유치신청 조건이었다”고 거듭 강조했다. 추진위는 “매 선거에서 가장 높은 지지율을 보여준 국민의 힘에 대한 믿음이 깨어졌다”며 “국민의 힘 지지철회와 탈당운동을 추진한다”고도 예고했다. 

특히, 추진위는 “이번 사태를 야기한 김형동 의원을 대구·경북 역적으로 규정하고 역사의 심판대에 세우고 지역에서 지울 것”도 천명했다. 이에 따라 김형동 의원의 반대와 김정재  도당위원장의 역할 부재는 통합신공항 건설을 원점으로 되돌림은 물론, 정권교체라고 하는 지역민들의 절대 염원까지도 묵살할 가능성이 높아지고 있다. 특히  김형동 의원은 그동안 지역 정치권이 경고했던 최악의 정치적 위기를 맞게 됐다.

실제, 추진위는 성명서에는 “김영만 군위군수를 향해 통합신공항 유치신청을 철회할 것”을 강력 요구한 것으로 알려졌다. 이에 더해 군위군의 공항추진단과 대구편입정책단도 해체하는 등 이번 사안에 대한 의지를 확실하게 보이겠다는 각오를 피력했다.
