먼저, 대구시는 김종한 행정부시장과 배석주 통합신공항건설본부장 등 대구시 공무원들이 29일 국민의힘 성일종 정책위의장, 주호영 원내 대표를 만나고, 30일에는 정진석 비상대책위원장, 김석기 사무총장을 방문할 예정이다. 

방문 주요 내용은 지난 2월 행안위 법안소위에 상정되지 못하고 계류 중인 군위군 대구시 편입법안과 주호영 의원 외 82명 의원이 공동 발의한 ‘대구경북통합신공항 특별법‘의 연내 정기국회 통과 요청으로 알려졌다. 

특히 군위군 편입에 대하여는 신공항 건설이 군위군과 의성군의 협조 없이는 전략환경영향평가, 문화재지표조사, 합의각서 체결뿐 아니라, 사업대행자 선정에도 차질이 생길 수밖에 없는 만큼 조속히 해결되어야 할 것을 강력하게 요청할 계획이다. 

경상북도 이철우 도지사도 29일 지역 정치권을 향해 군위군의 대구 편입에 협조해 달라고 강력 요청했다.

이 지사와 경북도는 특히 정치권이 우려하는 국회의원 의석수 조정에 대하여 “군위군 대구시 편입 후에도 경북의 국회의원 의석수는 줄어들지 않는다”는 점을 강조해 눈길을 끌었다.

경상북도가 제22대 국회의원 선거구 획정과 관련한 예상 분석 결과를 내놨는데, 그 결과에 따르면 군위군이 대구에 편입이 되어도 경북의 국회의원 수는 현 13석이 그대로 유지되는 것으로 분석됐다. 

경북도는 그 근거로 국회의원 선거구 획정 인구 하한선이 현 13만 5천859명에서 22대 국회의원 선거 때는 더 내려갈 것으로 예측했다.

경북도는 “22대 때도 지역구 국회의원 수가 지금과 같이 253석이라고 가정하면, 군위군의 대구에 편입이 되더라도 경북의 적합한 의석수는 지금의 12.8석에서 12.69석으로 별 영향을 받지 않는다”고 강조했다. 

특히, 경북도는 “시·도별 국회의원 선거구는 산술적 배분보다는 농·어촌 배려, 정치적 논리 등이 우선되어야 한다”는 점을 재차 강조하고 되는 것도 이 같은 의석이 감소하지 않을 것으로 전망했다.

이철우 경북도지사는 "지역 정치권이 그동안 군위군의 대구시 편입시 국회의원 의석수가 감소하고 선거구 조정 등에 대하여 큰 우려를 해왔다 “며 ”분석 결과 이같은 우려는 기우였다“고 강조했다. 

그러면서 이날 이 지사는 분석 결과를 임이자 경북도당위원장에 전달하며 지역 정치권의 군위군 대구 편입에 적극 협조해 달라고 요청했다.

Gyeongsangbuk-do has released the expected analysis results related to the delimitation of the 22nd National Assembly constituency. Gyeongsangbuk-do emphasized, “Assuming that the number of parliamentarians in the constituency is 253 as it is today, even if Gunwi-gun is transferred to Daegu, the appropriate number of seats in Gyeongbuk will not be significantly affected, from the current 12.8 to 12.69.”

In particular, Gyeongsangbuk-do emphasized again that “in the constituency of the National Assembly by city and province, consideration for farming and fishing villages and political logic should be prioritized rather than arithmetic distribution,” and predicted that such seats will not decrease.

Gyeongsangbuk-do Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, "The local politicians have been very concerned about the decrease in the number of seats in the National Assembly and the adjustment of constituencies when Gunwi-gun is incorporated into Daegu City," he said.

On the same day, Governor Lee delivered the results of the analysis to Lim Ja, chairman of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Party, and requested active cooperation in the incorporation of the military force into Daegu by the local political circles.
