지난 12일 민주당 전략공천관리위원회가 서재헌 위원장을 민주당의 경제 분야 비례대표로 선정했다고 밝혔다.

대구를 기반으로 하는 민주당 정치인 중 유일한 비례대표 후보자로 선정된 서재헌 위원장은 “국가와 지역을 위해 일할 수 있는 기회를 주신 민주당과 공관위에 감사의 말씀을 드린다”며 “선거운동 마지막 날까지 더불어민주당의 총선 승리와 더불어민주연합의 득표율 견인을 위해 최선의 노력을 다하겠다”고 소감을 밝혔다.

또한 “스스로가 가진 경제·청년·안보 분야의 경험과 지식, 전문성을 최대한 활용해 지역의 경제 발전과 청년의 더 나은 삶, 튼튼한 국가안보를 위한 정치를 계속해나가겠다”며 “국민을 위한 비례대표 후보라는 책임감을 갖고, 앞으로도 대한민국을 위해 가능한 역할을 다할 것”이라고 포부를 전했다.

서재헌 위원장은 1979년 대구출생으로, 육군 정훈장교와 대우증권을 거쳐 영국 스코틀랜드에서 MBA를 수료 후 정치에 입문했으며 중앙당 상근부대변인과 동구갑 지역위원장, 중앙당 조직강화특별위원회 위원 등을 역임했다.
