김 후보는 지난 25일 천안에서 전국적인 지방 발전 전략을 담은 20대 공약을 공개한 데 이어, 28일에는 대구당사에서 대구경북 지역을 위한 구체적인 공약을 추가로 발표할 예정이다.

이번 대구경북 공약은 주호영 중앙선대위 공동위원장을 비롯해 우동기 지방살리기 특별위원회 위원장, 오창균 총괄위원장, 정태옥 대구시 위원장, 김상동 경북도 위원장 등이 함께 발표에 참여한다.

김 후보는 "지방이 직면한 성장위기, 통합위기, 소멸위기에 적극 대응해 대한민국 어디서나 차별 없는 균형발전을 실현하겠다"고 밝혔다. 그는 지방정부가 중앙정부와 대등한 관계에서 자율적으로 발전할 수 있도록 하겠다고 강조하며, 수도권과 비수도권이 함께 번영하는 상생 발전 구조를 구축하겠다는 입장이다.

김 후보는 "지방의 위기를 수도권의 문제로 바라봐야 하며, 지방이 살아야 국가도 지속 가능한 발전을 할 수 있다"고 강조했다. 특히 대구경북은 대한민국 산업화의 심장이었던 만큼, 새로운 기술 중심의 경제혁신 거점으로 다시 설 수 있도록 전폭적인 지원을 약속했다.

The pledges for the Gyeongbuk region include innovation in the response system for large-scale forest fires and support for the livelihoods of affected residents, successful hosting of APEC in 2025 and reorganization of the Gyeongju Bomun Complex, construction of the Yeongnam region’s electric railway network and the Daegu-Gyeongbuk circular railway network, construction of nuclear power and hydrogen pipelines, early establishment of a national industrial complex centered on Yeongju, Andong, Uljin, and Gyeongju, development of national river areas such as the Nakdong River, Geumho River, and Hyeongsan River, and development of tourism resources, and establishment of a leading base for advanced bio and quantum industries.

Candidate Kim emphasized, “We must view the crisis in the regions as a problem of the metropolitan area, and only when the regions survive can the country achieve sustainable development.” In particular, as Daegu-Gyeongbuk was the heart of South Korea’s industrialization, he promised full support so that it can once again become a new technology-centered economic innovation base.
