김 후보는 이 자리에서 “국민을 섬기는 자세로 선거에 임하겠다”며 “대통령이나 국회의원은 높은 자리가 아니라 국민 앞에 무릎 꿇는 자리임을 잊지 않겠다”고 말했다.

그는 또 “서문시장을 돌아보니 장사가 되지 않고 신공항 이전 같은 지역 현안도 제자리”라며 “대구·경북 시도민과 당원 여러분께 큰 절로 사죄드린다”고 덧붙였다.

출정식에는 권성동 의원도 함께해 김 후보에 대한 지지를 호소했다. 권 의원은 “김문수 후보는 청렴하고 일 잘하는 정치인”이라며 “거짓과 포퓰리즘이 아닌 진정성 있는 리더가 필요하다. 지금같이 민생이 무너진 시점에는 김 후보 같은 인물이 적임자”라고 강조했다.

윤석열 전 대통령의 계엄령 논란, 당내 단일화 갈등, 지도부 책임론 등 복잡한 현안이 이어지는 가운데, 김 후보의 대구 출정식은 보수 정비의 신호탄이 될 수 있을지 주목된다.
