이날 전수식에는 ‘2025년 APEC 정상회의’를 역대 가장 성공적인 국제행사로 이끈 공무원과 민간인 등 유공자 25명이 참석해, 이철우 경상북도지사로부터 정부포상을 전수받았다.

APEC 준비지원단장으로서 1년 이상 경주 현장에서 정상회의 준비를 총괄한 김상철 APEC준비지원단장과, 2025 APEC 범시도민 지원협의회를 이끌며 도민 역량을 하나로 결집하는 데 기여한 박몽룡·이상걸 공동위원장에게는 대한민국 최고 영예의 훈장이 수여됐다.

이와 함께 세계 정상급 인프라 조성과 ‘문화 APEC’을 통해 경북 경주를 세계에 알리는 데 기여한 공무원과 민간인들에게도 포장과 대통령 표창, 국무총리 표창 등 다양한 정부포상이 수여됐다.

특히 APEC 경주 유치를 이끌었던 ‘APEC 경주유치 범시민추진위원회’ 활동에 이어 범시도민 지원협의회를 통해 정상회의 성공에 앞장선 박몽룡·이상걸 공동위원장이 나란히 훈장을 받은 것은, 이번 APEC을 통해 보여준 경상북도민의 헌신과 성숙한 시민의식이 국내외에 깊은 울림을 전한 데 대한 상징적 평가로 받아들여지고 있다.

이철우 경상북도지사는 “2025년 APEC 정상회의는 260만 경북도민과 2,500여 공직자 모두가 가슴에 훈장을 달아도 부족하지 않을 만큼 성공적인 행사였다”며 “APEC 성공을 위해 헌신해 주신 공무원과 도민 여러분께 깊이 감사드리고, 정부포상을 수상하신 분들께 도민을 대표해 축하의 뜻을 전한다”고 말했다.

이어 “이번 APEC 정상회의를 통해 경상북도의 위대함과 아름다움을 대한민국은 물론 전 세계에 다시 한번 각인시킨 만큼, 경북이 주도하는 새로운 지방시대를 열어가는 데 올해도 함께 힘을 모아 나가자”고 당부했다.

Gyeongsangbuk-do Province Holds Government Award Ceremony for Successful Hosting of APEC Summit
