【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경상북도는 대구광역시, 한국수자원공사(K-water), 한국환경공단과 공동으로 지난 1월 28일부터 29일까지 이틀간 국가물산업클러스터(대구 달성군 구지면)에서 ‘2026 워터밸리 비즈니스 위크’를 개최했다.
이번 행사는 기업·학계·연구기관·유관기관 관계자 등 500여 명이 참석한 가운데, 물기업과 기관 간 협력을 강화하고 판로 개척에 어려움을 겪는 지역 중소 물기업을 지원하기 위해 마련됐다. 행사에는 금한승 기후에너지환경부 제1차관을 비롯해 추경호(국민의힘·대구 달성군), 우재준(국민의힘·대구 북구갑) 국회의원과 유관기관 대표들이 참석해 지역 물기업의 비전과 혁신을 공유하고 격려했다.
주요 프로그램으로는 물 산업 발전에 기여한 기업과 공무원에 대한 시상식이 열렸으며, 대구·경북 물기업의 신기술·신제품 전시와 함께 수요기관 맞춤형 구매상담회가 진행됐다.
특히 대구·경북 지역 공공기관의 ‘2026년 사업계획 및 업무 방향’을 공유해 실질적인 상생 협력의 장을 마련했다. 구매상담회는 기업이 희망하는 기관과의 ‘1대1 사전 매칭’ 방식과 함께, 기관 담당자가 직접 기업 부스를 방문하는 ‘찾아가는 상담’을 병행해 실효성을 높였다.
그 결과 이번 행사 기간 동안 500건 이상의 상담이 성사돼, 향후 지역 물기업의 판로 확대와 공공구매 활성화에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
김호진 경상북도 행정부지사 직무대리(기획조정실장)는 “2026 워터밸리 비즈니스 위크가 지역 물기업의 실질적인 판로 개척과 공공구매 확대의 마중물이 되길 바란다”며 “도내 물기업들이 글로벌 경쟁력을 갖춘 기업으로 성장하고, 대한민국 물 산업의 미래를 여는 협력의 장으로 이어지길 기대한다”고 말했다.

Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, in collaboration with Daegu Metropolitan City, Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water), and the Korea Environment Corporation, hosted the '2026 Water Valley Business Week' for two days from January 28th to 29th at the National Water Industry Cluster (Guji-myeon, Dalseong-gun, Daegu).
With approximately 500 attendees from businesses, academia, research institutes, and related organizations, the event was designed to strengthen cooperation between water companies and related organizations and support local small and medium-sized water companies facing challenges in developing market opportunities. The event was attended by First Vice Minister of Climate, Energy, and Environment Keum Han-seung, National Assembly Members Choo Kyung-ho (People Power Party, Dalseong-gun, Daegu) and Woo Jae-joon (People Power Party, Buk-gu A, Daegu), and representatives from related organizations. They shared the vision and innovation of local water companies and encouraged them.
Key programs included an awards ceremony honoring companies and public officials who contributed to the development of the water industry, an exhibition of new technologies and products from Daegu and Gyeongbuk water companies, and a customized purchasing consultation session tailored to demand agencies.
Notably, public institutions in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk region shared their "2026 Business Plans and Directions" to foster practical, mutually beneficial cooperation. The purchasing consultation session was designed to enhance effectiveness by combining "one-on-one pre-matching" with companies' preferred institutions and "on-site consultations," where representatives from the institutions visited the companies' booths.
As a result, over 500 consultations were completed during the event, which is expected to significantly contribute to expanding sales channels for local water companies and revitalizing public procurement.
Kim Ho-jin, acting vice-governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do (director of the Planning and Coordination Office), said, “I hope that the 2026 Water Valley Business Week will serve as a catalyst for local water companies to explore practical sales channels and expand public procurement,” adding, “I hope that this will lead to a forum for cooperation that will help local water companies grow into globally competitive companies and open the future of the Korean water industry.”
