경상북도는 26일 경주 힐튼호텔에서 경북테크노파크, 참여 대학 및 기업 관계자 등 30여 명이 참석한 가운데 ‘2025 경북 반도체 초격차 전문인력 양성사업 최종평가 및 성과공유회’를 개최했다.

이번 행사는 지난 1년간 추진해 온 반도체 전문인력 양성 사업의 주요 성과를 점검하고, 포항공과대학교(POSTECH)와 대구가톨릭대학교 등 거점 대학, 지역 반도체 기업들이 협력해 도출한 우수 사례를 공유하기 위해 마련됐다.

이날 성과보고에서는 대학별 특화 교육 과정과 기업 연계 프로젝트 성과가 집중 조명됐다. 포항공과대학교는 나노융합기술원의 최첨단 반도체 팹(Fab) 인프라를 활용해 실습 중심의 고도화된 교육 과정을 운영했다. 특성화고 학생 대상 입문 교육부터 대학생 공정·분석 실무 교육, 기업 연구개발(R&D)에 즉시 투입 가능한 고급 인력 양성까지 단계별 교육 파이프라인을 구축하며 지역 산업계 인력난 해소에 기여했다.

대구가톨릭대학교는 ‘현장 맞춤형 반도체 공정 및 패키징’에 특화된 교육을 통해 설계, 공정, 패키징, 검사·분석 등 전주기 교육 과정을 운영했으며, 이를 통해 수료생들의 취업 경쟁력을 크게 높였다는 평가를 받았다.

경상북도는 이번 사업을 통해 단순한 교육 인원 확대를 넘어, 양성된 인재가 지역 기업으로 유입되고 기업 경쟁력 강화가 다시 인재 양성으로 이어지는 선순환 산업 생태계 구축에 주력하고 있다. 실제로 도내 특성화고 및 대학생들은 수도권으로 이동하지 않고도 최고 수준의 장비 실습 기회를 얻었으며, 참여 기업들은 별도의 재교육 없이 즉시 현장 투입이 가능한 맞춤형 인재를 확보하는 성과를 거뒀다. 이는 지·산·학 협력의 대표적 모범 사례로 평가된다.

경상북도는 이번 성과공유회를 계기로 반도체 인력 양성 사업을 더욱 고도화할 방침이다. 구미 반도체 특화단지와 연계해 교육 인프라를 확충하고, 기업 주도의 산학협력 프로젝트를 확대해 ‘반도체 인력 공급의 핵심 거점’으로서의 위상을 강화할 계획이다.

양금희 경상북도 경제부지사는 “반도체 산업의 초격차 경쟁력은 결국 사람에게서 나온다”며 “경북의 인재들이 지역에서 꿈을 펼치고, 지역 기업들이 세계적인 수준으로 도약할 수 있도록 경상북도가 반도체 산업 육성의 든든한 버팀목이 되겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 올해 사업에서는 도내 특성화고생과 대학생, 졸업생을 대상으로 한 반도체 전문인력 양성 교육에서 당초 목표 240명 대비 359명이 수료해 150%의 달성률을 기록했다. 교육 만족도는 5점 만점에 4.6점을 나타냈다. 또한 사업이 시작된 2023년부터 2025년 말까지 총 3,391명의 반도체 인재를 양성했으며, 경상북도는 2030년까지 반도체 전문인력 1만 명 양성을 목표로 한 마스터플랜에 따라 현재까지 4,880명을 배출했다.

경상북도는 이를 바탕으로 미래 첨단산업 주도권을 선점하고, 대한민국 반도체 산업의 핵심 거점으로 도약한다는 방침이다.

Approximately 30 participants, including representatives from Gyeongbuk Technopark, participating universities, and companies, attended the event.

The event reviewed the key achievements of the semiconductor talent development project over the past year and shared best practices developed through collaboration between key universities, such as Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) and Daegu Catholic University, and local semiconductor companies.

The performance report highlighted the achievements of specialized educational programs and corporate-linked projects at each university. Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) utilized the state-of-the-art semiconductor fab infrastructure of the Nano Convergence Technology Institute to offer an advanced, hands-on training program. This program, which encompasses introductory courses for vocational high school students, practical training in process and analysis for university students, and the development of high-level talent immediately deployable in corporate R&D, contributed to addressing the local industry's labor shortage.

Daegu Catholic University specialized in "field-tailored semiconductor process and packaging" and offered a full-cycle training program covering design, process, packaging, inspection, and analysis. This program was recognized for significantly enhancing the employment competitiveness of graduates.

Through this project, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province is focusing on not simply expanding the number of trainees but also creating a virtuous industrial ecosystem where trained talent is attracted to local companies, and this enhanced competitiveness in turn fosters talent development. Students from vocational high schools and universities in the province gained access to top-level equipment training without having to relocate to the metropolitan area, while participating companies secured customized talent immediately deployable in the field without requiring retraining. This is considered a prime example of cooperation between industry, academia, and local governments.

Gyeongsangbuk-do plans to further enhance its semiconductor workforce training program through this performance sharing session. It plans to strengthen its position as a "key hub for semiconductor workforce supply" by expanding educational infrastructure in conjunction with the Gumi Semiconductor Specialized Complex and expanding industry-academia collaboration projects led by companies.

Gyeongsangbuk-do Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs Yang Geum-hee stated, "The semiconductor industry's unparalleled competitiveness ultimately comes from its people. Gyeongsangbuk-do will serve as a strong supporter of the semiconductor industry, enabling Gyeongsangbuk-do's talented individuals to pursue their dreams locally and local companies to leap forward to world-class levels."

Meanwhile, this year's program targeted students from specialized high schools, college students, and graduates in the province.
