강성환 의원은 오는 17일에 열리는 제281회 임시회 2차 본회의에서 5분 자유발언에서 달성습지 1일 관광벨트 조성을 위한 보행교 설치의 필요성을 강조 할 예정이라고 밝혔다.

이와 함께 강 의원은 대구관광재단의 주요사업으로 달성습지 관광벨트 조성사업을 반영할 것과 궁극적으로는 달성습지가 국가정원으로 지정될 수 있도록 노력할 것을 제안할 계획이다.

강성환 의원은 “많은 시민들이 디아크와 달성습지를 방문하고 있지만 디아크에서 달성습지로 이동하기 위해서는 왔던 길을 되돌아나가 강창교를 경유해 3km 가량을 우회해야한다”면서 “방문객들은 이런 번거로움 때문에 한 곳만 방문하게 되어 인접해있는 두 관광지간에 시너지가 전혀 없는데, 만약 두 지점을 연결하는 보행교가 설치된다면 디아크에서부터 달성습지, 대명유수지, 사문진나루터, 화원동산까지 연결되어 자연스럽게 1일 관광벨트가 형성 된다”고 설명했다.

그러면서 “달성습지와 그 일대의 관광지는 도심에서 접근성이 가장 좋은 시민들의 휴식처로 대구시는 달성습지 및 일대의 관광지 육성사업을 지역을 대표하는 관광 사업으로 지정할 필요가 있으며 나아가 국가정원으로 승격될 수 있도록 다각적으로 노력해야 한다.”고 주장하면서, “순천만 국가정원, 태화강 국가정원의 성공 사례에서 보듯 관광산업 활성화는 물론 다양한 부가가치가 창출될 것이다. 시의 적극적 정책 반영을 기대하겠다”고 말했다.
