【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=DGIST(총장 국양)가 ‘2023년도 전기(2월) 학위수여식’을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

16일 오후 2시, DGIST 컨벤션홀에서 열린 학위수여식에서는 박사 29명, 석사 87명, 학사 126명 등 총 242명의 과학기술인재들이 학위를 수여받았다.

이날 학위수여식에는 이종호 과학기술정보통신부 장관, 노정혜 DGIST 이사장(서울대 명예교수), 김종한 대구광역시 행정부시장, 김한준 DGIST 총동문회장(금오공과대학교 교수)이 참석해 졸업생들의 앞날에 응원을 전했다.

특별연사로 참석한 국내 1위 바이오 의약기업 셀트리온그룹의 서정진 명예회장은 "팬데믹 기간 어려운 시기를 이겨내고, 무사히 졸업을 이뤄낸 것을 축하한다"며 "작은 목표부터 시작해 세계 최고를 꿈꾸며 꿈을 닮아가라"고 조언하며 졸업생들에게 뜻 깊은 메시지를 전했다

이날 학위수여식에서 과학기술정보통신부 장관상을 수상한 에너지공학과 진다희 졸업생은 “DGIST에서 배운 창의, 도전, 협력, 배려의 정신을 기반으로 꿈을 키울 수 있었다”며 소감을 전했다.

DGIST 국양 총장은 졸업생들에게 “팬데믹 속에서도 DGIST의 혁신적 교육·연구과정을 훌륭히 이수한 세계적인 경쟁력을 가진 과학도”라고 격려하고, “졸업 이후에도 평생 배움을 통해 성장하여, 책임있는 글로벌 시민으로서의 역할을 다해주길 바란다.”며 당부했다.

한편, DGIST는 과학기술정보통신부 직할 과학기술원으로 2011년과 2014년 각각 대학원과 학부과정을 개설한 이후 지금까지 약 1,800명의 융복합 과학 인재를 배출해오고 있다.

Jeongjin Seo, honorary chairman of Celltrion Group, Korea’s No. 1 biopharmaceutical company, who attended as a special speaker, said, “Congratulations on overcoming difficult times during the pandemic and successfully completing graduation. and delivered a meaningful message to the graduates.

Jin Jin-hee, a graduate of the Department of Energy Engineering who received the Minister of Science and ICT Award at the graduation ceremony, said, "I was able to develop my dream based on the spirit of creativity, challenge, cooperation, and consideration I learned at DGIST."

DGIST President Yang Kook encouraged the graduates as “scientists with world-class competitiveness who successfully completed DGIST’s innovative education and research courses despite the pandemic,” and added, “Even after graduation, they grow through lifelong learning and fulfill their role as responsible global citizens. I hope you will do it.”

Meanwhile, DGIST is an institute of science and technology under the direct control of the Ministry of Science and ICT. Since opening graduate school and undergraduate courses in 2011 and 2014, respectively, it has produced about 1,800 convergence science talents.
