12일 오후 1시 열린 정책협약식에 참가한 황순규·최영오 예비후보는 “국회의 무책임한 태도로 장애인들은 여전히 차별받으며 고통을 겪고 있다”며 “유엔 장애인권리협약 비준 국가로서 장애인의 보편적 요구 실현에 소홀하지 않아야한다”고 비판했다.

황순규 후보는 “지역에서 함께 살고, 이동하는 게 특별한 일이 되어선 안 된다. 보편적 권리가 차별받지 않도록 함께 하겠다”고 밝혔다.

최영오 후보는 “노동운동을 하며 비정규직 차별 철폐에 앞장서 왔다, 장애인 차별 철폐에도 적극 함께하겠다”는 다짐을 전했다.

아울러 두 사람은 “장애인의 권리 실현에 누구보다 앞장서겠다”고 약속했다.

앞서 대구총선장애인연대는 장애인에 대한 집단시설 수용, 장애인과 가족의 사회적 참사와 같은 문제를 해결하고, 장애인을 시혜와 동정의 대상으로 치부하는 한국 사회의 장애인 정책을 변화시키기 위해 각 후보 진영에 10대 정책 공약 협약을 제안한 바 있다.
