이에 홍준표 시장은 “트램은 60년전 종로에서 사라진 전차이다. 이미 서울에서 이명박 서울 시장 때 트램을 구상하였으나 무산된 바 있어. 미래교통수단으로 적절하지 않다.”고 설명했다.

이어 김대현 의원이 구체적인 근거와 경제성이 없을 경우의 대비책에 대해 묻자 홍 시장은 “앞에 다 이야기 하지 않았냐.”며 “그땐 내가 죽고 난 뒤 일 것”이라는 우스갯소리로 답변하며 다소 진중하지 못한 태도를 보이기도 했다.

또한 대구시 신청사 건립 계획 변경에 관해 시정 질문에 나선 윤권근 대구시의원이 "대구시는 지난 8월 19일 대구시의회 서면 시정질문 답변에서는 신청사 건립의 사업비가 3,312억 원이라고 했다가 2주만에 사업비가 4500억 원에 달할 것이라고 번복하며 비계획적으로 사업을 변경하고 있다"고 지적하자 “참 나 답답하네.”라며 윤 의원의 말을 가로막았다.

이 가운데 굳은 얼굴로 추가질문에 나선 육정미 대구시의원은 홍 시장에게 “시의회는 집행부에게 사업보고를 받거나 회의에서 이야기한 부분에 대해 되묻고 집행부가 언론을 통해 발표한 것들에 대해 옳고 그름을 따져 물을 수 있다.”면서 “건설교통위원회에서 2021년 7월 AGT에서 트램으로 변경했는데 불과 1년 만에 다시 홍준표 시장님께서 트램으로 변경했다. 대구시가 홍준표 시장님의 것이 아니지 않나? 이전 시장이 잘못 한 것은 그 책임은 누가 져야하나?”라며 호통을 쳤다.

아울러 육 의원은 “홍 시장님이 5년 후에 예산 다 쓰시고 떠나버리시면 어떡하나? 이것이 대구시의회의 우려이다.”고 강조하면서 “대구시민들은 홍 시장님의 파워풀한 정치 기대하고 저도 정말 대구의 100년 미래 먹거리를 만드시길 기대한다. 호통치고 그러시는데 우리 서로 호통치고 욱하면서 5년을 가보도록 하자”며 강한 경고를 덧붙였다.
