【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구YMCA가 3.1운동의 역사적 가치를 되새기고, 지역사회가 함께 그 정신을 계승하는 뜻 깊은 시간을 마련했다고 25일 밝혔다.

3.1운동 106주년을 기념해 열리는 ‘대구 3.1만세운동 전야행사’가 28일 오후 2시 교남 YMCA에서 진행된다.

행사에서는 예술과 역사를 연결하는 ‘독립운동가 부조 전시회’, 독립운동가들의 이야기를 만나는 ‘대구 3.1만세운동 인물 세미나’ 등 다채로운 프로그램이 펼쳐질 예정이다.

‘독립운동가 부조 전시회’를 통해 독립운동가들의 위대한 정신을 형상화한 부조 작품들이 전시된다. 부조 작품을 만든 한기환 작가가 각 작품에 담긴 의미와 창작 배경을 직접 설명하는 큐레이팅 시간도 마련됐다.

‘대구 3.1만세운동 인물 세미나’를 통해 대구지역의 대표적인 독립운동가 ‘백남채’와 ‘최경학’을 조명한다. 백승호 학교법인 청구학원 기획실장(백남채 선생 종손)과 박병종 목사(최경학 선생 유족)가 발제자로 참여하며, 이후 패널토론을 진행할 예정이다.

이충기 대구YMCA 이사장은 “이번 전야행사를 통해 3.1운동의 주권재민 정신을 되살리고 지역사회의 역사적 자긍심을 고취하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다”며“시민들의 적극적인 관심과 참여를 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

The ‘Daegu March 1st Independence Movement Eve Event’ commemorating the 106th anniversary of the March 1st Movement will be held at Gyo-nam YMCA at 2 PM on the 28th.

The event will feature diverse programs such as the ‘Independence Activist Relief Exhibition’ that connects art and history, and the ‘Daegu March 1st Independence Movement Figure Seminar’ where you can meet the stories of independence activists.

The ‘Independence Activist Relief Exhibition’ will display relief works that embody the great spirit of independence activists. A curating session will also be held where artist Han Ki-hwan, who created the relief works, will personally explain the meaning and creative background of each work.

The ‘Daegu March 1st Independence Movement Figure Seminar’ will highlight representative independence activists in the Daegu area, ‘Baek Nam-chae’ and ‘Choi Gyeong-hak’. Baek Seung-ho, the director of the planning department of Cheonggu Academy (the eldest grandson of Baek Nam-chae) and Pastor Park Byeong-jong (the bereaved family of Choi Gyeong-hak) will participate as presenters, and a panel discussion will follow.

Lee Chung-ki, the president of Daegu YMCA, said, “Through this eve-event, we aim to revive the spirit of popular sovereignty of the March 1st Movement and to promote historical pride in the local community,” adding, “We look forward to the active interest and participation of citizens.”
