대구 달성군 가창면 주암산 불이 열흘째 꺼질 기미를 보이지 않고 있다. 불은 수차례 꺼졌다 되살아나기를 반복하며 아직까지 주암산에 남아 있는 상태다.

7일 대구소방안전본부 등에 따르면 달성군 가창 산불을 잡기 위해 헬기 5대와 소방진화대원‧공무원‧군부대 인력 등 604명이 투입됐다.

주암산의 피해 면적은 11ha, 오리 야산은 7ha로 추산된다.

이 지역의 산은 경사가 급하고, 암석지대여서 바위 틈에 숨은 불이 쉽게 꺼지지 않고 있다.

산불이 발생한 지점은 가창면 주암산의 8부 능선과 이곳에서 약 1.5km 떨어진 오리 운흥사 부근 2곳이다. 현재 최초 발화된 주암산의 주불은 잡혔다.

문제는 지난 5일 7시 15분쯤 발생한 운흥사 부근의 큰불이다. 진화율이 40%에 그치는 데다 산세도 험해 불을 끄기가 쉽지 않은 상황이다. 

소방 관계자는 "바윗돌과 낙엽이 많아 화재를 진압하기 매우 힘든 사례"라며 "진화까지 다소 시간이 소요될 것으로 보인다"고 말했다.

대구 달성경찰서 관계자는 "특정 단서가 있는건 아니지만 자연발화, 방화 등 모든 가능성을 열어 두고 수사 중"이라고 밝혔다.
