【브레이크뉴스 구미】이성현 기자=구미시는 19일 시청 국제통상협력실에서 국제로타리클럽3630지구(17·18지역) 및 교통장애인협회 구미시지회와 장애인 이동편의 증진을 위한 차량지원 업무협약을 체결했다.

이번 협약에 따라 국제로타리클럽3630지구 17지역(대표 이정희) 소속 8개 클럽과 18지역(대표 방혜영) 소속 4개 클럽이 참여해, 총 6,500만 원 상당의 리프트 승합차 1대를 지원하기로 했다. 17지역에는 선산·구미제일·구미선주·새구미·구미그린·구미해마루·구미정수·구미미소 로타리클럽이, 18지역에는 구미·구미강동·구미숭선·구미해송 로타리클럽이 포함됐다.

지원 차량은 교통장애인협회 구미시지회에서 회원들의 이동 지원에 활용될 예정으로, 교통약자의 일상적인 이동 부담을 완화하고 사회 참여 기회를 확대하는 데 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

김장호 구미시장은 “장애인 이동편의 증진을 위해 뜻을 모아주신 국제로타리클럽3630지구 17·18지역에 깊이 감사드린다”며 “구미시는 앞으로도 물리적·사회적 장벽을 낮추는 무장애도시 조성을 위해 지속적인 행정적 지원을 이어가겠다”고 말했다.

한편 국제로타리클럽3630지구는 백내장 수술 지원, 대상포진 및 자궁경부암 예방접종 등 저소득층을 위한 보건증진 사업을 꾸준히 추진해 왔으며, 미세먼지 알리미 신호등 설치와 폭염 대비 그늘막 조성 등 생활밀착형 복지사업을 통해 지역사회 복지 향상에 기여하고 있다.

Gumi City Signs Agreement with Rotary International to Provide Vehicles to Improve Transportation for Persons with Disabilities

On the 19th, Gumi City signed a business agreement with Rotary International District 3630 (Regions 17 and 18) and the Gumi City Chapter of the Korea Association for Transportation Disabilities in the International Trade Cooperation Office of City Hall to provide transportation to improve transportation for persons with disabilities.

Under this agreement, eight clubs from Rotary International District 3630 District 17 (Representative Lee Jeong-hee) and four clubs from District 18 (Representative Bang Hye-young) participated, agreeing to provide one lift van worth a total of 65 million won. District 17 included the Rotary Clubs of Seonsan, Gumi Jeil, Gumi Seonju, Saegumi, Gumi Green, Gumi Haemaru, Gumi Jeongsu, and Gumi Miso, while District 18 included the Rotary Clubs of Gumi, Gumi Gangdong, Gumi Sungsun, and Gumi Haesong.

The vehicles will be used by the Gumi branch of the Korea Transportation Disability Association to provide transportation assistance to its members, alleviating the burden of daily transportation for those with mobility challenges and expanding opportunities for social participation.

Gumi Mayor Kim Jang-ho stated, "I am deeply grateful to Districts 17 and 18 of Rotary International Club 3630 for their commitment to improving transportation accessibility for people with disabilities." He added, "Gumi City will continue to provide administrative support to create a barrier-free city that lowers physical and social barriers."

Meanwhile, Rotary International District 3630 has consistently promoted health promotion projects for low-income families, including support for cataract surgeries and vaccinations for shingles and cervical cancer. It also contributes to improving community well-being through practical, everyday welfare programs such as installing fine dust warning signals and providing shade shelters during heat waves.
